📚Grip Width can affect a number of things during a bench press, such as muscle activity, load and sticking point of the movement.

If you aren't concerned about maximal bench press strength then you should select a grip width that provides the most comfort on both your shoulders, elbows and wrists!

Wider grip:
🔘Less Triceps
🔘May increase load lifted (is likely a 'sweet spot' for most people)
🔘Causes greater abduction at the shoulder
🔘Sticking point is likely to be lower in the movement
🔘A possible increase in pectoral activity
🔘Shorter ROM
🔘More shoulder stress

Narrower Grip:
🔘More Triceps
🔘Lower load than regular Bench Press
🔘Causes a more acute angle of abduction at the shoulder
🔘Sticking point likely to be higher in the movement
🔘 Longer ROM
🔘More elbow stress

Awesome work from client finishing up her last squat session of her first block with a set of 10 on 75kg, big things to come from hazel in the next few weeks!👊

"Week 4 of my powerlifting programme with KJperformance and my set today consists of an AMRAP of squats on 75kg. I managed 10 which I'm incredibly happy with. I have 3 and a half years of weight training experience at a lower weight but higher volume, I'd developed good strength but wanted to make bigger progress and direct it towards a sport, Will James has inspired me towards powerlifting. He's set me a great programme so far and has helped me break a monotonous training routine, I feel stronger in areas that always seemed to have slow improvement, my body also looks in better condition.
