It's been a quiet few months 😌

I cancelled Freya's BD membership back in August and won't be competing her again 😥

She is still in work though and doing great, I just feel she deserves to be pampered now without any pressure. And of course we are still having tons of fun together 😁

After more ups and downs with Summer I had her scoped for ulcers... which showed the most perfect ulcer free stomach. The vet agreed it's likely her hind gut thats been bothering her. But I think we are finally on top of it, and we have some other options if she drops off again 🙏

But today was a good day. I had a go at the yard Christmas dressage with both girls 🥰

Summer was somewhat worried by santa sitting at a table. But we are starting to get glimpses of how fantastic I hope she will become which is very exciting 🤩

Freya did the freestyle to music, she whizzed her way round to Dominic the donkey and won because she's simply amazing 😍

Mel's on holiday and today was High Peak dressage, so I stole Bill again 🙈

And what a superstar he is ❤️

He takes some getting used to does this lad, due to him being a standardbred he has some funky extra moves that we affectionately call his Jazz hands. Having not really ridden him for the best part of 10 years, when I got on 3 weeks ago I couldn't stop his Jazz hands from making regular appearances, especially in the canter 🤣

But we had some brilliant lessons at camp and today we nailed it and won our prelim class with 67.8% 🥇

Love him to pieces 🥰

And thank you Mel for letting me have the best 3 weeks with him 😘

As if I didn't traumatise Summer enough yesterday... today I decided to enter in Glossop pony club show 😁

The plan was that Mel would do it not me. I mean why would a granny want to run out a Welsh cob? You dont have a dog and bark yourself do you 🫣

However yesterday we attended a fancy dress bbq. Obviously I dressed my family in bottle costumes. Unfortunately I didn't appreciate Mel's lack of experience in dressing up as a vodka bottle, she took the theme quite literally and was feeling somewhat delicate this morning 🥂

So Summer and I set off into the ring. Well that didn't last long, we swapped over as soon as the tail came up and Summer remembered her heritage 🐲

Mel did an excellent job! And Summer won the first class, best condition and turnout 🥇

Next up M&M. By now Summer had gone a bit flat and they were placed 4th. I was just pleased Summer was behaving and Mel hadn't fainted in the heat due to her delicate state and NOT having eaten anything 🤢

Mega pleased with Super Summer and every day's a school day, today we learnt Mel has to do the running not me, thank you Mel 😆

So this morning Summer and I took part in the hargate dressage 😁

A table with people and 'stuff' inside the indoor was a bit much for poor Summer. I knew it would be and that's exactly why we did it 😳

She did some nice work at the other end of the indoor. But yeah, no dressage test let's you just stay in one safe end does it 😂

But.... she was able to keep a lid on it and although very worried by the table, people and stuff she was at no time unsafe. And I fully trusted her the whole time, this is big progress on a couple of years ago 🥰

We came 7th out of 10, I expected last so was more than happy with that. And we'll be back next month to work on our table, people and stuff skills again 👊

High Peak Camp 2025

With the one and only Bill, and what an absolute treasure he is 😍

I had the best time imaginable. Learnt tons and tons in all my lessons. And LOVED taking him round the farm ride 🐎

And as Mel wasn't around to stop me, I dressed Bill up in some lovely bright matchy colours 🙈

Our riding club really is made up of the most wonderful people and I feel sooooo lucky that I get to experience this each year 🫶

I'm so grateful to Mel who let me steel Bill off her for camp. He might not be my horse but I shall always treasure the memories I've made with him this week 💖

Right now I'm unbelievably achy, have the usual unexplained camp bruises and can barely stay awake, and I couldn't be happier 🥰

So 2025 hasn't really panned out as intended so far 🤷‍♀️Summer has been troubled by what I believe to be hind gut issues...

So 2025 hasn't really panned out as intended so far 🤷‍♀️

Summer has been troubled by what I believe to be hind gut issues. I think 🙏 I've got on top of it now. I'm still learning, but shes looking better than ever and her ridden work is progressing well again 🤞

Freya was given some go faster hock jabs just over a month ago. She's doing great again now but the consequences of her reduced workload are plain to see 🐷

Its camp one week tomorrow and the big question still remains....
