Super Summer's pro pics from camp 🥹

Obviously I'm over a week late with these. But it's been a tough week, see last post 🤣

And yes that is a rarely seen canter picture. Slowly we are hopefully getting there 🙏

She melts my heart and I'm very excited to practice what we've learnt ❤️

If anyone is thinking of getting an extra horse.... or three, I can wholeheartedly say I don't recommend it 🤯

I can confirm all equines have been well fed, watered, mucked out and generally treated like royalty as usual for the week 👑

The human caregiver on the hand 😩🥱🫩😴

I do hope she's enjoyed her holiday, but I'm counting the hour's until Mel returns tomorrow 🎉

Super Summer’s first ever camp with High Peak Riding Club☺️

It didn’t start well when Mel lost her car keys and couldn’t come and wave us off. We had to enlist Nicky to be my loading wingman instead. But Summer does load ok and off we went😎

Mel found her car keys by the time we hit the M6🤦‍♀️

I expected Summer to be anxious when we got there, and she didn’t disappoint😳

I didn’t expect her to remain anxious for the whole camp. I had to be very careful with her, hold her hand and generally micro manage her. The stable block was just to busy for her and my poor girl didn’t know what on earth was going on🥺

But after a slightly tricky start we completed all our lessons and went round the farm ride twice. And then won most improved dressage rider, with a lovely goody box from Lomas Equestrian🎉

And very very importantly I managed to get a photo of us together with me in my bottle costume🍾

I have a lot more work to do over the winter to try and help her deal with new situations better but I have lots of new tricks learnt in all my brilliant lessons that I can’t wait to put into practice💪

I've had the best time and I am so proud of my wonderful pony🥰

Oldham riding club dressage today, and she's only gone and done it again 🎉

I was a little bit concerned how well she would manage with people, and general activity being so close to the arena. But my biggest concern was working in on a grass field 😬

The working in didn't go great, but I expected this and knew she'd be better once in the arena. And she was, although she was quite distracted during the first half of the test, she settled more as we went on 👀

Completely overjoyed to receive a score of 72.95% for 1st place 🥰

I've waited a long time for this and I'm amazed at how quickly she is improving every day now she is feeling good. Nothings ever guaranteed with horses but it's difficult not to be quite excited about her future 🙏

Today I took Summer to Dean Valley for her first ever competition away from home 😬

The plan had been to take her for an arena hire first but it was logistically impossible. So I entered anyway, with the view that we might not make it in the ring and it was just a training exercise wearing our Sunday best 😎

We arrived to wind and sideways rain! This was not part of the plan 🤣

She's a sensitive girl, and I wandered about a bit with her to let her process before getting on. She was pretty worried 😕

When I did get on I think I told Mel several times I didn't think I could do it. But with Mel's much needed words of encouragement we persevered and she began to relax 🙏

I came out of the working in very happy that we'd been in the working in and she had settled. If we didn't make it round the test I didn't care, we'd achieved a relaxed working in and I was happy with that 🥰

Went in for our test and she took a bit of a dislike to the banners at the end of the arena. But we headed down the center line, and managed the full intro 3 test 👊

I was completely over the moon with her. She traveled well, settled in and did a test 😍

Then imagine my surprise to find out we won with a score of 68.41% in a huge class 🥇🥇🥇

I couldn't be more proud of her, well done Super Summer ❤️❤️❤️

She's only gone and done it again 😎

She was a bit tense when I first took her in the working in, and I knew I needed to be careful with her and hold her hand 🫂

But as we wandered about together I could feel her relaxing 🥰

Two intro tests and two 70% scores 🎉

And just look at her square halts, we practice this every day. Turns out practicing things helps a lot 🙈

Nipped Summer over to Friezland today to use the arena 😎

It's her 3rd different arena now, and predictably we reverted back to riding a baby elephant 🐘

But just a few weeks ago we were really struggling with our canter, it was a bit non existent or sometimes she added a few broncos if I over cooked it. Sorry Summer 🙈

Still wobbly and learning, and we can't do this on the left rein as well.... yet 🙏

She just gets better every day 🎉
