🏏🎉 Join us as we celebrate an incredible milestone — 125 years of Old Glossop Cricket Club! 🎉🏏
Whether you’re a lifelong supporter, former player, local resident, or just fancy a great day out, everyone is welcome.
Old Glossop Cricket Club is inviting the local community, former players and cricket supporters to join a packed weekend of celebrations on 23-24 May 2026 as the club marks its historic 125th anniversary.
The anniversary weekend is being held at the Glossop Glass & Glazing Ground just off Manor Park Road and promises cricket, live music, family entertainment and community events at the club’s ground, celebrating the people and memories that have shaped Old Glossop CC since 1901.
Festivities begin on Saturday 23 May with the club’s First XI playing at home alongside the launch of the inaugural Old Glossop Gin Festival, featuring a range of gins and refreshments throughout the day and evening. Local musician Matt Williams will also perform live as part of the celebrations.
The event continues on Sunday 24 May with another full day of activities for all ages. Visitors can enjoy cream teas, local live music from The Chimeras and a traditional duck race, alongside the continuation of the Gin Festival.
The centrepiece of the anniversary weekend will be the specially organised 125 Tournament on Sunday 24 May. The tournament is a unique round-robin cricket competition featuring teams made up of both past and present Old Glossop players. Former teammates and club favourites will return to the ground to play alongside current members in what promises to be one of the most memorable events in the club’s history.
Old Glossop Cricket Club Chairman George White said: “A 125th anniversary is a once-in-a-generation occasion and we wanted to create a weekend that celebrates not just cricket, but the community spirit that has kept this club going for so many years. We’re especially excited to welcome former players back to the club for the 125 Tournament and to open the celebrations to the whole town with music, family events and the Gin Festival.”
Founded in 1901, Old Glossop Cricket Club has been a fixture of community life in Glossop for more than a century, providing opportunities for generations of players, volunteers and supporters.
The club hopes the anniversary weekend will reconnect old friends, attract new visitors and create new memories as it looks ahead to the next chapter in its history.
