Glossop CC U11s vs Newton CC U11s
A fantastic effort from the team on Sunday morning against league leaders Newton CC at North Road.
Newton batted first, but some excellent bowling and fielding ensured the visitors were restricted to 203/1 (net 198). Louis claimed Glossop's only wicket with an outstanding spell of 1-1. Special mentions also go to Jake, who kept wicket confidently in the second half, and Patrick, who showed great bravery attempting a catch at mid-off from a fiercely struck shot by the Newton captain.
The whole team bowled straight and full throughout the innings, keeping extras to a minimum and giving themselves a real chance going into the chase.
Glossop responded positively with the bat. Flynn continued his excellent form, including a huge six into the hedge that nearly resulted in a lost ball! Promising partnerships throughout the innings kept the chase alive, although the loss of wickets at key moments made the target increasingly difficult.
Vincent and Jake battled hard towards the end, ensuring Newton had to work right until the final over. Glossop eventually finished on 82/11 (net 177), just 20 runs short.

Louis earns this week's Player of the Match award for another outstanding bowling performance against league leaders Newton. His bowling has improved week on week throughout the season, and this morning was no exception. Showing great control, accuracy and determination, Louis consistently challenged the batsmen and was rewarded with the team's only wicket of the match.
A great sign of the team's progress came after the match when Newton's coach commented that Glossop had been one of their toughest tests of the season, particularly praising the quality and accuracy of the bowling.
The improvement across the squad continues week by week. Well done everyone! 💚👏
