Some of our younger Gladiators had a great time at the Largo Softball Festival on Sunday.

Four very close games, with plenty of standout moments for all the young cricketers taking part - from Largo, Dunfermline & Carnegie, Falkland and Glenrothes.

Well done to our Under 12s tonight, who put in another great performance.

Batting first they scored 72 for 8. Every batter contributed in different ways - Jake and Leyon hitting very well straight down the pitch, others defending well, but star batter was Bradley who remained not out facing their best bowler, playing some really good shots and hitting our only boundary four.

Bowling performance was really strong. Jake 2 for 8 from 2 overs and Leyon 2 for 13 from 3 took the plaudits, along with a wicket to Freddie and a good catch by Ryan. Our guest player Aadi from the hosts also took a wicket. A strong fielding performance from everyone also! Dunfermline finsiehd on 103 for 6.

So a defeat but one they can take credit from. Not least because of the very noticable age and size different between the two teams - they had one player at 5 feet 9 inches and another just an inch or two behind! To compete so well against such a strong and experienced side was great to see, we are as always really proud of our young cricketers.

Earlier this week we travelled to Upper Largo for an Under 12s intermediate hardball game against Largo Lions.

Final scores were Gladiators 113 v 152 Lions.

Birthday boy Jack for the Lions had an outstanding game, taking 4 wickets for 10 runs from 3 overs and scoring 26 not out. Otherwise, other players from both teams were well matched.

Dhyan fielding really well; Ryan with a catch; boundary hits to Leyon and Badrinath; Jake with an excellent 1 for 1 from 2; Izan batting very patiently; great hands by Badrinath when wicketkeeping including a catch; Nizah battling hard at batting; Freddie having a solid all-round game (and providing skittles); and Bradley hitting some great shots and unlucky not to score more.

Our young Gladdiators have been working hard refining their cricket skills over recent weeks, and it was great to see the progress being made with wicket-keeping. Key learning point - en masse coaching is not always easy, but as soon as you put them into a one-on-one challenge it's a game changer!

Weather continues to be interesting, and forecasts suggest more thunder and lightening to come and that's a not a risk we're keen to push on to the youngsters. So tonight's TRAINING IS CANCELLED we're sorry to say.
