Thomas “Tam” Young

It is with great sadness that Markinch Bowling Club shares the news of the passing of our Past President and Honorary Member, Tam Young.

Tam served as President of our Club on three occasions – 2001, 2016 and 2019 – and was awarded Honorary Membership in 2020 in recognition of his service and contribution to Markinch Bowling Club.

Tam's achievements on the green speak for themselves. He represented Markinch at the Scottish Championships in Ayr in the Triples, was a two-time Three Counties winner, and had far too many Fife successes over the years to mention them all.

But Tam was so much more than his bowling achievements.

Known not only as a Markinch bowler, Tam was a hugely respected figure throughout the bowling community in Fife and across Scotland. A great character, a fierce competitor and, above all, a true gentleman who was held in the highest regard both on and off the green.
A Markinch legend who will be very sadly missed.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with all of Tam’s family, in particular Sandra, Catriona, Calum and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
Rest in peace, Tam. 💙

We have booked a Coach for our game this Sunday in Tranent for the 1/4 Final of the Scottish Top 5.

If anyone would like to come, please place your name on the list in the club house or let Secretary Judd know as soon as possible.

Bus leaves Markinch at 1pm
Sunday 30th August
Return Journey heading back between 6pm and 6.30pm.

We wish our Top 5 every success in their game.

Congratulations to Amy Blyth on the incredible achievement of reaching the National Finals in Ayr.

Winning her first game yesterday and progressing to play again this morning, unfortunately it wasn't meant to be.

Funeral service is at Kirkcaldy Crematorium on Wednesday 22nd July 2026 at 10:15 am. Everyone is asked to wear something Blue, Ryan's favourite colour. No black ties please.

Dedicated to the memory of Ryan Todd
