12/9, Friendly: Strollers Reds - Swifts Sambas T1

An excellent performance by the girls on Saturday in a game featuring 2 teams who play football the right way.

Swifts ventured forward a few times early on. Likewise, Ailbhe and Olivia probed centrally for us, while Eden fed Penny on the left and Georgia tried to run her opponent on the right in order to feed Myla who was full of energy and running.

But, at this time it was Sambas who made the better chances in spite of some excellent defending from Hannah, Eden and our captain, Amelia. Niamh was in good form in goals, but could do nothing about Sambas' opener.

Isla came into centre midfield and Elise replaced Georgia on the right as the Reds pushed for a leveller. Instead, Sambas looked to turn the screw with a second, disputable goal. The ball was kicked out of Niamh's hand as she lay on the ground. By the letter of the law, it can't count.

2nd half, and the girls gave 💯 from the off. Niamh pulled off some fantastic saves, including a magical double save which she was rightly still buzzing about at the end of the game. Hannah, Eden and Amelia (and later Penny) were rock solid.

Georgia, Ailbhe, Olivia, Isla, and the marauding Eden all played their part in driving the attack at times and it was just reward when quick-thinking Georgia scored from close range. By this time the girls were creating space in the middle and down the flanks and a 2nd goal almost came when Elise played a pass out wide to Ailbhe whose raking shot from the left corner of the box was palmed to safety.

The team's endeavours were finally rewarded with a second when Myla's assist was pinged home by Eden, after which both teams had late chances to add to their tally.

Squad: Niamh, Eden, Hannah, Amelia, Georgia, Olivia, Ailbhe, Penny, Isla, Elise, Myla.

Player of the match Millie. 🤩

Going into today’s game, there were understandably a few nervous faces. The girls remembered all too well the last time we faced this opposition around a year ago, we suffered a heavy defeat.

Before kickoff, the coaching team gave them a simple message: “You have come a long way since that game. Concentrate on your own performance, enjoy your football just like you have in the last three matches, and the outcome will be completely different.”

The girls took those words straight to heart. What followed was a spectacular performance from start to finish, showcasing immense hard work, great team chemistry, and a fantastic attitude all round.

I hope everyone who came out to support the team today enjoyed the match as much as we did.

We lined up in a structured 2-1-3-2 formation today, and every single player executed their role brilliantly.

Today wasn't just about football it was about how much these girls have grown as individuals and as a team over the past year.

We enjoyed seeing the girls high five each other all around the pitch when making defensive tackles as well as when we scored goals.

A massive well done to the whole squad. 👏👏⚽

A quick Bayside goal early in the game caught the girls by surprise, but they responded brilliantly.

From that point onwards, Glenrothes dominated possession, controlling the ball and dictating the tempo of the match. Their passing was noticeably sharper this week, allowing for smoother transitions from defence into attack and creating a strong platform for controlling the game. The team produced several excellent patterns of play, making good use of the wide areas to stretch the opposition and deliver dangerous crosses into the box.

The girls finished the first half strongly, taking a commanding lead into the break after dominating much of the play. Glenrothes' attacking threat was causing Bayside all sorts of problems, forcing the home side to switch to a 3-4-1 formation in an attempt to contain the relentless attacks and regain some control of the game.

Despite the tactical change, Strollers continued to dominate possession and create chances throughout the second half. Their movement, passing and attacking intent were simply too much for Bayside to handle as the girls controlled the match and looked capable of reaching double figures.

The attacking football on display resulted in some outstanding goals, with the girls showing confidence and creativity throughout. The performance was built on teamwork, hard work and excellent decision-making across the pitch. Defensively the girls remained organised, while their attacking quality and dominance of the ball continually caused problems for Bayside.

Another excellent team performance and a thoroughly deserved result for Magentas Girls, who continue to build momentum and confidence with each passing week.

A fantastic effort from everyone involved. Well done, girls! 👏⚽🔵💛

Strollers Reds - Blairgowrie u12s

A hardworking Tier 2 performance in the Perthshire sunshine against a squad of girls in their 2nd year at 9-aside. The team did superbly on a pitch so wide it was square, and with several players missing from the squad.

Niamh marked her debut in goals with a few, secure early touches of the ball. Tough-tackling Hannah and Eden, and jet-heeled wing-back, Victoria dropped deeper to provide greater protection and ensure confident distribution from goalkicks. A really good effort.

A lot of the action at this stage was taking place middle to front, with the speed and trickery of striker Georgia, playing off Blairgowrie defenders' shoulders, causing mayhem. Myla was sitting deeper to provide a bit of steel alongside the trickery of Olivia, while Jess and Penny provided their usual guile on the wings. The goal when it came was from Jess, assisted by Hannah.

A second goal quickly followed with Myla slotting past the imposing Blairgowrie keeper from an Eden pass. By this time, Amelia had slotted into defence and was breaking up Blairgowrie attacks efficiently, while Elise provided an outlet on the wing.

Blairgowrie thought they had reduced the arrears from a high long-range strike which Niamh had no chance with, but it nestled into the side-netting. This was but a warning as they soon slotted past Niamh.

Into the 2nd half Blairgowrie moved up a gear. While Niamh made a classy stop to her chest from a low driven cross, a breakaway and an unfortunate last-ditch defensive effort resulted in a couple of Blairgowrie goals.

Thankfully these were interspersed with a Myla goal from point-blank range which resulted from a GK save and, the best goal of the bunch, a delicious Jess through ball which Georgia ran on to, slotting coolly past the keeper.

While all players were exceptional today, the effort of Eden and Hannah in reading the game and shielding Niamh deserves mention. Their fellow defender, Victoria's lung-bursting runs also stretched our opponents repeatedly. Niamh made some cracking saves, too.

Our player of the week is Amelia, however. Assured in defence, but stepped into midfield to settle things down and tackle hard in the 2nd half.

Squad: Niamh, Victoria, Hannah, Eden, Amelia, Penny, Olivia, Myla, Jess, Elise, Georgia.

Player of the match Cora 🤩

What an enjoyable match to watch today, with some excellent football on display throughout. The girls showed great determination, teamwork and confidence on the ball, producing some lovely passing moves and taking their chances well in front of goal.

There were some outstanding goals during the game, with Cora, Noelle and Siri all finding the net with excellent finishes.

One of the highlights of the match was our second goal, which came from a fantastic team move involving a number of players. The move started at the back with Amie, who played a composed pass into Racheal. Racheal then found Erin, who helped switch the play before the ball was worked out wide to Milli. Milli spotted the run and delivered a defence-splitting pass through to Noelle, who finished confidently to cap off a superb team goal. It was a brilliant example of the quality passing and movement the girls are capable of when they work together.

Throughout the match there was plenty of positive play, with the team moving the ball well and creating several good opportunities.

The effort, attitude and willingness to play football the right way made it a very enjoyable game to watch.

As always, there are areas we can continue to improve in training.

We'll focus on maintaining our shape when out of possession, reacting quickly to transitions, and being more composed with our decision-making in key moments.

These small improvements will help us continue to develop as a team.

Well done to all the girls for their hard work, teamwork and excellent attitude. Keep working hard in training and enjoying your football!

A special thank you to Isla and Hannah for stepping in to help the team out

29/8 *Glenrothes Strollers – Dundee West Royals*

A composed, disciplined and hugely spirited performance by the Strollers in their second Tier 2 outing. Despite late changes to the line‑up, with *Penny* stepping into goal, the girls rose to the challenge and delivered a display full of organisation, effort and quality.

---

⚽️ *First Half*

From the first whistle, both sides looked to play football, keeping the ball on the deck and moving it with purpose. The Strollers’ back line — *Hannah, Victoria, Amelia* and *Eden* — were excellent throughout, reading danger early and limiting Dundee West’s chances.

*Penny* produced two outstanding stops midway through the half, including one brave smother in a crowded box, keeping the game level.

In midfield, *Ailbhe, Isla* and *Olivia* battled relentlessly, breaking up play and driving the team forward. Out wide, *Jess* and *Georgia* caused repeated problems with pace and direct running. Indeed a clever move between *Olivia* and *Jess* almost opened the scoring, only for the keeper to react sharply.

Up front, *Myla* worked tirelessly against a strong Dundee defence, forcing a corner through her excellent hold up play that led to a half‑chance for *Isla*, whose effort flashed just over.

*Half-time:
The message was simple — keep the intensity, keep the structure, and the chances would come.

---

⚽️ *Second Half*

The pattern continued: physical challenges, huge effort, and real composure from the Strollers.

A few half‑chances came from neat play down the right involving *Victoria*, *Jess* and *Myla*, while *Ailbhe* went close with a long‑range strike that dipped just over.

The breakthrough arrived midway through the half. A long throw-in from *Victoria* split the defence, and *Ailbhe* showed strength and determination to burst through and finish calmly into the far corner. A brilliant goal and a deserved lead.

Dundee West responded strongly, forcing the defence into some last‑ditch clearances. *Penny* then produced two stunning saves, lifting the whole team.

With three minutes left, Dundee West finally found a way through — a sharp move down the left ending with a high finish into the net.

The girls pushed for a winner, showing real heart, but the match ended level.

---

⚽️ *Overall Performance*

This was a superb display against a structured, skilful Dundee West side. The girls have shown they belong at Tier 2. Their organisation, work rate and bravery in possession were outstanding.

They should be incredibly proud of themselves.

---

⚽️ *Player of the Match*

*Penny* — while it could have gone to any of the girls, her crucial saves, confident clearances and composed kicking made her a thoroughly deserved standout performer.
