Great night at Rising Phoenix BJJ tonight.

Congratulations to the few who levelled up too.

Lucy moving up to yellow/white belt. She has been desperate to get to the next level and I have been making her work on a few weaknesses before moving her up and she has worked so hard to improve and deserves this promotion.

Jenny has really stepped it up in the last year both in competition and in coaching in the kids class.
She is more than ready to move to the yellow belt category and regularly beats me up now when rolling.

Callum getting his Blue Belt after 3000 privates with Ramsay 😉 and putting in tonnes of mat time in the last year and has improved massively.

The atmosphere in the gym is amazing and we have such a great group of students and coaches.

I'm very proud watching the club grow.

This weekend we had 3 teenage girls competing in the British Open in Coventry and they absolutely nailed it coming away with 🥇🥇🥇

Jenny was up first and submitted her first opponent in 47 seconds with a cross collar choke putting her through to the final. She went out and did awesome winning the final by Americana in just over a minute to win 🥇

Lucy then fought and despite being visibly smaller than both of the girls in her category she put on an amazing show to beat both girls by arm bar. Lucy's change to how she approaches difficult situations has been the biggest improvement though and I was super impressed with her composure and control which definitely helped her bag 🥇

Ruby had to wait until Sunday as she fought in the adults division for the first time as well as being her first competition as a Blue Belt.

Watching the first match in her division it was clear the girls were experienced and we're going to be really tough.

Ruby looked strong and in control in her first match quickly grabbing points and had a quick mounted guillotine attempt. Despite surviving a submission scare towards the end of the round she won by points.

In the final she faced another tough girl who got the upper hand in the first half of the match getting points and attempting some submission attempts. At the half way mark Ruby managed to pass guard and over to mount before attempting an Ezekiel choke winning on points to grab 🥇

I am super proud of all 3 girls. They all showed great skill and composure.

Thank you to everyone at Rising Phoenix BJJ for helping get these teenage girls ready and being part of an amazing supportive team.

First kids beginners block of 2026 was completed last Thursday. 4 kids were away on holidays so missed the picture opportunity but they will get their certificate when they come back.

Ruby and Jenny ran all 6 weeks themselves with guidance and direction from head coach Jamie.

They did an amazing job and were highly complimentary of the kids in the class.

Everyone should have received an email with directions for moving forward. Please check your spam folder if you haven't received it.

Hoping to see all the kids join in with the main class 🤞🏻
