Today we welcomed a very impressive Oakley Villa Youth Academy to Overstenton for our first ever match between the 2 sides.

Oakley are certainly one of the stronger sides we have encountered and unfortunately the scoreline was fairly one sided with Oakley accepting a number of gifts that we offered them throughout the match.

We will get games like this throughout the season and will always learn from them with the biggest lesson always to not beat ourselves.

Key Points

1) Last goal the winner...... I'm certain I heard the ref shout "Next Goal Wins" as he was ready to get dried off for the day and Isaacs well struck penalty secured that "victory" for us following Jordan being fouled in the box.

2) Goonies Never Say Die - despite a tough match in horrendous conditions we battled to the end, it was a game for leaders to step up and on that note Captain Benjy certainly did, all action display and on the receiving end of some heavy challenges he never stopped.

3) Last Gasp Heroics - sliding in out of nowhere Jakes tackle on their striker was inspiring to those around him (and definitely did not hit his hand 😉)

4) Double Trouble - as if it wasn't hard enough telling them apart already Ross and Riley swapped positions during the second half to add Rileys calmness into defence and Ross's steel into the midfield.... heaven help the refs when it comes to booking one of them...

5) Gamekeeper turned Poacher - in another positional change our sweeper Jordan was deployed up front late in the game and immediately proved a success, his ability to carry the ball at speed immediately caused Oakley problems. Food for thought.

Sponsors will not only have their emblem proudly worn each week during matches but will receive weekly shoutouts on all club social media channels. (As well as the eternal gratitude of all involved at Strollers 2014s)

For 1 square we would ask £20 or for 2 squares (1 on each) £30

In our first scheduled league game of our 11 aside journey we welcomed our neighbours and friends from Rothes Juniors 2014 to a sunny Overstenton park.

It was a great day for football and the fans were treated to a highly competitive game between 2 well matched teams with equal chances at both ends but Rothes shading it overall on goals scored.

Key Highlights

1) *Captain(s) Fantastic*- Alfie and Benjy have been selected by the coaches as our team Co Captains for season 26/27 - both players are well respected by their team mates and consistent lead the way with their effort and attitude.

2) *Debut's to remember* - in our largest matchday squad to date we introduced the crowd to a number of new (and returning) faces. With a couple of them receiving matchday awards

*Opposition Player of the game* - Shelbie joined us this week from our talented girls team, (for whom she is an accomplished goalkeeper) did not look out of place at the opposite end of the pitch, bravely pressing and probing as striker up against players literally twice her size.

*Players player of the game* (joint) - Jay recently joined us as goalkeeper and stood up admirably to the test with some excellent saves, we look forward to Jays continuing development in nets. - Jay shared this award (nominated by the team) with our mainstay in defence Jordan.

3) *Goals* - Raife stepped up from his usual Defensive birth to slam home a great finish to open our goals tally for 26/27 and take an early lead in the top goalscorer race.

4) *Coaches Player of the Day* - in what was an extremely impressive performance throughout Isaac stood out to both Greig and Harry for his work down the left hand side, with some of the fastest feet in Fife he was a thorn in the side of his opponent all game with skills that drew gasps from the crowd at points (if only he'd shoot though 😉)

5) *Squad Depth* - we deployed 2 different formations throughout the game which was only possible due to our squad, we will keep working on these in training and fine tune to get the best out of all players. There were plenty of positives from both and a lot more to come.

We welcome Oakley Villa to Overstenton next week for the first ever match between the 2 sides.

As we prepare to make the exciting step up to 11-a-side football this summer, we're looking to welcome new players to our 2014 age group squad!

We are on the lookout for keen, enthusiastic players born in 2014/15 who love the game and are ready to learn, improve and be part of a positive team environment.

What a start to weekend, we took the short trip along the A92 to play our friends Raith Rovers Community Club 2014s and the game didn’t disappoint.

What an effort from both teams in what was a highly competitive game.

From the first whistle, our boys started as they meant to go on, as did Raith which made for a great start which saw them grab a goal but that goal didn’t dampen our spirits and we found ourselves back in the game through an absolute cracking goal from our own Raife, Raith then scored a cracking goal themselves which again seemed to kick on our boys who found another goal from Benjy smashed the underside of the crossbar before the back of the net. Raith ended the half finding a the net again.

The Second Half showed the highly competitive nature of the game in which saw both teams create chances and defend really well in what was an absolute fantastic game from both teams.
