I had a fantastic time at the Saturday afternoon session of the Southampton sumo weekend. The weekend was hosted by Lance of the Southampton club and this session was instructed by sensei Mengkin Ragan of Honu Sumo.
The theme of the session was to train as hard as the Japanese do. Many drills including mobility and resistance whilst drilling the sumo squat. Naturally, there was lots of bouts and I got a chance to fight Nathan ‘Creaky Rikishi’ which is off my bucket list.
Thanks for the invitation and I will definitely be supporting your events in future. Videos to follow.
