💪RESTING AND MUSCLE GAIN💪
A common misconception is that it’s the time spent in the gym that results in “GaINz”, and so a lot of people do wayyyy too much training and pay little attention to SLEEP, REST and DIET: the key components to muscle growth!
I haven’t trained for over a week now as I had an operation on Monday and have been - frankly - off my t***s on pain relief since then 😹 I’ve walked each day and done some simple yoga stretches. It’s been HARD to resist the urge to do more as I LOVE my training, and there’s a part of my brain that is telling me my muscle is wasting away and my body fat is going up 🙄 (lies).
However, I’m staying focussed on getting in regular, nutrient-dense meals with an emphasis on protein (with additional tea and biscuits for fun and extra calories required for healing), plenty of sleep and rest, and by the looks of things whilst trying on some clothes today I don’t think my gains are wasting away just yet 💪😄
Moral of the story: worry less about getting in as much training as you can, and focus instead on what you’re doing the other 23 hours of the day!
