Hi all!

I know a few of my class participants follow me on here and you’ve probably noticed I’m absent again - I’m dealing with a post-op infection/complication at the moment. Not sure how long I’ve be out of action but hopefully back within a couple of weeks.

Hey folks! I’m back to my full class programme now ☺️

BUT! I am putting a hold on PT-ing for the time being and just focussing on classes through the summer 🌞

Happy Monday! Class update:

I definitely underestimated my recovery time and am in a LOT of pain, so I am continuing to rest this week and, all being well, I will be back at my classes from this Friday 🤞

💪RESTING AND MUSCLE GAIN💪

A common misconception is that it’s the time spent in the gym that results in “GaINz”, and so a lot of people do wayyyy too much training and pay little attention to SLEEP, REST and DIET: the key components to muscle growth!

I haven’t trained for over a week now as I had an operation on Monday and have been - frankly - off my t***s on pain relief since then 😹 I’ve walked each day and done some simple yoga stretches. It’s been HARD to resist the urge to do more as I LOVE my training, and there’s a part of my brain that is telling me my muscle is wasting away and my body fat is going up 🙄 (lies).

However, I’m staying focussed on getting in regular, nutrient-dense meals with an emphasis on protein (with additional tea and biscuits for fun and extra calories required for healing), plenty of sleep and rest, and by the looks of things whilst trying on some clothes today I don’t think my gains are wasting away just yet 💪😄

Moral of the story: worry less about getting in as much training as you can, and focus instead on what you’re doing the other 23 hours of the day!

I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately 🙈 and am taking some time out while I have a small operation next week!

I’ve been training smart and hard AND recovering well, and I’m actually looking forward to seeing how my body responds after surgery with great nutrition and having primed myself with a good level of fitness beforehand!

Training to change your appearance and feel better about yourself is one thing, but knowing you’re optimising your body’s ability to recover and heal from trauma is next level! 💪 Here goes 🙏 See ya soon!

👌SWEETnSPICY AIR-FRYER CHICKPEAS 🔥

Such a quick, easy snack! Decent protein, high fibre and really satisfying 👍

👉 Rinse and drain one can of chickpeas
👉 Stir in 2 tbsp maple syrup (or you can use a sweetener such as stevia powder), a pinch of chilli, 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional) and a good tsp of sea salt
👉 heat in a greaseproof paper or tinfoil lined air fryer for about 15 minutes or until crispy

You can also chuck these in the oven if you don’t have an air fryer.

I put about four times too much chilli in these ones 🥵

Balance is EVERYTHING in life 🙌

Not just physical, literal balance.

But balance in movement: being agile AND strong. Fit over short AND long distances. Being mobile AND flexible. Being able to run, jump, and throw AND being able to lie and sit in stillness.

Balance in the way you treat your body: enjoying healthy nourishing foods AND those that feed your soul rather than your body!

Finding habits and hobbies that satisfy all your desires and needs. Spending time hard at work AND hard at play.

Health isn’t found in extremes, it is found in BALANCE ⚖️
