A superb day at our invitation Fours competition sponsored by Howden, Insurance Brokers. After the heavy rain on Friday which put paid to all the Club’s scheduled League games, we were fortunate to have a bright sunny day to complete the tournament without any weather issues.

The Winners of the Competition were the Woodilee Team skipped by David Munro.
Runners up were from Stoneyetts skipped by Peter Wood.
The other semi-finalists were Auchinloch teams skipped by Ken Middlemas and Gordon McGill.

Thanks to our Match Secretary John Deans for his diligence and patience in organising such a successful event and to our Sponsors Howden whose backing was greatly appreciated by the Club.

Commiserations to Mhairi Campbell who lost 21-13 to Gillian McCalmont in the District Final this morning at Westermains in the Under 55 Singles.
Gillian went on to do a double by defeating Sandra Hepburn of Torrance in the Singles in the afternoon.
We wish Gillian all the best in both Singles Competitions at Northfield.

Good luck to Mhairi Campbell tomorrow morning at Westermains in the Bowls Scotland Ladies District final.
Mhairi will face Gillian McCalmont of Kilsyth in the Over 55 Singles.

A successful afternoon for Mhairi Campbell in the Over 55 Singles semi final at Torrance.
Mhairi came away with a 21-16 victory over Helen Allison of Lenzie in a very tight game with some great heads.
Mhairi will play Gillian McCalmont of Kilsyth in the District Final next Saturday after Gillian also won at Torrance with a hard fought victory over Anne Marie Kennedy also of Lenzie.

Helen and Anne Marie have the consolation of a place in the District Finals in the Pairs following a victory after an extra end over Kirkintilloch yesterday.

It wasn’t to be for our Ladies Fours team today in the Bowls Scotland District semi-final.
The game was very tight early on with the lead changing hands regularly and after 11 ends the teams were tied at 8-8.
The 12th end saw a great conversion by Woodilee skip Aileen Miller which lead to a count of 4 which was significant and the Woodilee ladies were able to consolidate and hold on to their lead over the remaining 5 ends.
We wish Woodilee all the best for the District Final next weekend.

Mhairi will have another opportunity tomorrow when she plays against Lenzie in the Over 55 Singles in the Semi Final at Torrance at 1pm. Good luck tomorrow, Mhairi.

Good luck to our Ladies Fours team of Morag, Mary, Jennifer and Mhairi today as they play their Bowls Scotland district semi final.
The game commences at Campsie at 1.30pm where their opponents will be Woodilee.

A successful Community Open Day at the Club with several local businesses taking a sales table. The day was complete with a tombola stall, a BBQ and fun games for the children on and off the Green, with potential recruits introduced to bowling with at least one confirmed new member.
A busy day for the bar added up to a great afternoon.👏 Well done to all our members and thanks to the Auchinloch Community who gave their support.

A disappointing day on the Circuit today for all our Competitors.
In the Bowls Scotland Over 55 Singles matches there was a double success for Westermains BC.
Fraser Grant triumphed 21-12 over Gus Nicolson at Banton while John Deans was unfortunate to come up against Jim Byron who was at the top of his game at Milton of Campsie.

In the DWBA District Final our Ladies teams both had the misfortune of meeting Condorrat teams on their own Green.
The Fours team of Carole, Eileen, Morag and Mhairi were defeated by opponents who took full advantage of their local knowledge.
The Triples game was a close match with Elspeth, Jennifer and Mary ahead until the 13th end. Two single shots in the final 2 ends closed out a narrow 14-11 victory.

We wish the 2 Westermains players well for the semi final and the Condorrat Ladies for the County Final.

Another busy day for the Club today as we have 2 Gents playing in Bowls Scotland Over 55 Singles quarter finals and 7 Ladies representing the Club in the DWBA District final at Condorrat.

Tonight the Club is hosting 5 Bowls Scotland quarter finals. We hope the weather will be favourable to have all games completed without any disruption.

At 1pm this afternoon Gus Nicolson plays at Banton while John Deans is at Milton of Campsie. Both of our Gents meet opposition from Westermains BC.

At 2pm our Triples team of Elspeth Hunter, Jennifer Alexander and Mary Calder will play a Triple from Condorrat.
Meanwhile our Fours Team of Carole Binnie, Eileen Wilson, Morag Daly and Mhairi Campbell will also be playing for their place in the County Final in 2 weeks time.

Good luck to all our representatives in their respective games today.
