Movember 2023
Our rugby club has once again raised money for Movember, a charity which does incredible work in supporting and raising awareness for men’s mental health.
Whilst growing some questionable moustaches, as a club we have also organised some fundraisers throughout this month, here's a glimpse into our impactful efforts!
1. 2nd Years Iron Man Challenge
On November 18th, 12 of our second years conquered a monumental Iron Man Challenge at Strathclyde Sport. Completing a 10.5km run, 45 km cycle and 40 lengths of the pool each. In one day the boys managed to raise an incredible £700 towards our clubs Movember campaign.
2. Senior Rugby Gym Challenge
18 club members aimed to lift 762,000kg in the gym in just 5 days, representing the 762 suicides recorded in Scotland in 2022. In the process they smashed their original target, lifting 922,362kg!
3. Movember Cardio Challenge
Of the 762 recorded suicides in 2022, 73% of these were men. In solidarity with the cause, a joint effort between Strathclyde Men's and Women's Rugby pushed a 73kg sled as far as possible in just one hour, covering a staggering 6.5km. Between 22 Strathclyde Rugby members this symbolises the distance we're willing to go for men's mental health.
We've already soared past our £2000 goal, but the month isn't over yet! Every contribution matters. Join us in our final push to make a lasting impact on men’s mental health. Together, we can make a difference!
Donate to our Movember page (https://movember.com/t/university-of-strathclyde-men-s-rugby-club?mc=1) and be a part of this incredible movement. Thank you to everyone who has supported us; your generosity fuels our determination!
