⚽️ Full-Time: Hillwood Old Boys 0 - 1 Clyde Apollo
Friday 8th August – Priesthill Park
Six months after pulling the boots back on, Hillwood Old Boys made their long-awaited competitive debut — and what an occasion it was!
With the sun setting over Priesthill, there was nothing fading about the Hillwood Old Boys. A squad made up of mostly late 40s, 50s, and even a 58-year-old warrior stood toe-to-toe with a younger Clyde Apollo side, most of them in their late 20s and early 30s. But if they thought it was going to be a stroll — they were in for a shock.
From the first whistle, the Old Boys put on a shift. Grit, graft, and pure heart. Bodies on the line. Tackles flying in. Voices roaring. The kind of togetherness that’s been built over the last six months — forged in Friday nights, forged in laughs, sweat, and a shared love of the game.
We created plenty of chances, played some cracking football, and were desperately unlucky to lose it to a late second-half goal.
But make no mistake — this wasn't a team there to make up the numbers. This was a message:
Hillwood Old Boys are back — and even with the years on the clock, we've still got the class, the legs, and the fire in the belly.
To every lad who’s pulled on that top over the last six months — last night was yours. What we’ve built is more than a team. It’s a brotherhood.
And this is only the beginning. 👊💙
