Brian Goodwin 10K 2026 โ€” Volunteer Marshal Update

A message has now been sent out to everyone who kindly volunteered to marshal at the Brian Goodwin 10K this Friday evening.

There is a chance the email may have landed in some junk or spam folders, so please check there if you havenโ€™t seen it yet.

All marshals are asked to be on site by 6.15pm on Friday evening so roles can be assigned and Paula Quinn, our Volunteer Director, can give a briefing before the event.

Volunteers will also receive a token for a drink and burger at the end of the evening.

If you know someone who has volunteered, please give them a quick nudge to check their inbox and junk folder.

Thanks again to everyone giving up their time to help. We couldnโ€™t put the event on without you, and we look forward to seeing you on Friday.

โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ Up and Running in June ๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿ’™
The first weekend of June brought another packed schedule of racing for the Harriers.

๐ŸŒณ Killearn 10K
Set against the backdrop of the stunning Stirlingshire countryside, the Killearn 10K is a friendly local race featuring rolling roads and beautiful views of the Campsies. Four Harriers took to the start line, with Graeme Campbell leading the team home in 47:30, earning 3rd V50 ๐Ÿฅ‰. Michael Meehan finished in 57:04, David Gemmell crossed the line in 1:01:47, and Peter Meehan completed the course in 1:03:53. Well done all! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

๐ŸŒฒ Milngavie Trail Race
The trails of Mugdock Country Park offered runners a mixture of forest paths, undulating terrain, and stunning scenery. Six Harriers took part, with Kristina Glynn continuing her excellent form to finish as 3rd female in 1:01:29 ๐Ÿฅ‰ . A special mention goes to Becky Simister, who completed her first race following a prolonged period of injury and knee surgery - an incredible achievement ๐Ÿ’™. Well done also to Derek Elliott-Jones, Ruth Harrison, Vicki Fraser-Hopewell, and Charlie Francis for taking on the trails.

๐Ÿ™๏ธ Roon the Toon 10K
One of Ayrshireโ€™s most popular road races, Roon the Toon combines a fast course with fantastic local support. A brilliant 19 Harriers took part this year. Fraser Armstrong was first Harrier home, finishing 8th overall in an impressive 32:47 ๐Ÿ”ฅ. Congratulations also to our Club President, Scott Mason, who claimed 3rd V40 in 35:20 ๐Ÿฅ‰, and to junior member Callum Walker, who was 1st U17 in a superb 39:23 ๐Ÿฅ‡.
There were fantastic performances throughout the field, and it was particularly lovely to see Laureen McKay and Magda Thomas crossing the finish line hand in hand - a wonderful reflection of the camaraderie within the club.
Special recognition also goes to David Gemmell, who completed the double, taking on both the Killearn 10K and Roon the Toon in the same weekend - outstanding effort! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

๐Ÿ’ช Scotland Spartan Super
Never one to shy away from a challenge, Karen McQuarrie continued her obstacle racing exploits, finishing as 4th female in the Scotland Spartan Super. From trails to walls, carries and crawls - Karen seems to excel at it all! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

๐Ÿฐ Dunfermline Auld Toon 10K
A long-standing fixture in the Scottish road racing calendar, the Auld Toon 10K winds its way through the historic streets of Dunfermline. Pauline Henderson continued her remarkable run of success, once again claiming ๐Ÿฅ‡ 1st V60 in a fantastic time of 48:36. Another gold medal for the collection!

From country roads and woodland trails to town centre races and obstacle courses, the Harriers were out in force to kick off June in style. Here's to many more miles, memories, and medals over the summer months ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

๐Ÿฆบ VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED๐Ÿฆบ

A wee appeal to the wider Glasgow running community ๐Ÿ™

The Brian Goodwin Memorial 10k is now sold out, with runners from clubs across Glasgow and beyond taking part - but weโ€™re still short of volunteers to help us deliver the race safely on the night.

If youโ€™re not running, injured, supporting someone, or just fancy being part of one of the best Friday nights in the Scottish road racing calendar, weโ€™d be hugely grateful for your help.

Volunteers are needed from around 6pm at Cartha Queenโ€™s Park Rugby Club in Pollok Park. The race starts at 7.30pm and most roles should be finished by around 9pm.

We offer a front-row seat to a brilliant race, a big thank you, and a beer and burger afterwards ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿบ!

Itโ€™s been another busy spell for the Harriers, with members racing across the country and producing some fantastic performances.

Six Harriers made the trip to Troon on a dreich Wednesday afternoon for the 39th Troon 10k. Despite the gloomy conditions, there were excellent runs all round from Ewan Lachlan, Claire Fitzsimmons, Pauline Henderson, Gordon Clannachan, Christine McKay and Elizabeth McGrady. A special mention goes to Pauline, who claimed 1st place in the V60 category โญ๏ธ

On 15th May, Darren Shields took on the challenging Black Rock โ€˜5โ€™ race in Kinghorn. Conditions were favourable, although there were a few wet and slippery sections underfoot. Darren tackled the tough course well, crossing the line in 38:27. Well done Darren ๐Ÿ‘

Meanwhile, Graeme Campbell competed in the Gryffe Valley Rotary 10k, a scenic but testing mixed-terrain route along the country lanes of the Gryffe Valley area. Graeme finished in a superb 47:27, 3rd place in the M50 category ๐Ÿฅ‰

Further south, Karen McQuarrie delivered another outstanding performance, finishing as 1st female at Born Survivor ๐Ÿฅ‡ An amazing achievement from Karen ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

2 Mile Time Trial โ€“ Summer Champs Race 5 โ˜€๏ธ

A brilliant night of racing at Bellahouston Harriers as 33 runners took on Race 5 of our Summer Champs series over the 2 Mile Time Trial. Thankfully the rain stayed away, making for fast conditions on our newer, flatter route.

๐Ÿ’จ Alasdair Campbell led the field home in a rapid 9:50, with Callum Wallace next across the line in 10:36. Third place saw a close battle between Alistair Munro and David Griffin, with Alistair just taking it in 11:32.

๐Ÿคฉ The womenโ€™s race was incredibly close, with only six seconds separating the top three. Julie Lynch took the win in 12:20, closely followed by Marianne Wilson in 12:23, while Emma Oโ€™Donnell completed the podium in 12:26.

A huge thanks as always to the volunteers and organisers who make evenings like this possible:
