Sorry to hear the sad news that Gordon Woods has passed away.
Gordon was a victim of the Celtic Pa******le Ring that was in operation for decades and subsequently covered up by various managers and directors at Celtic Park.
Initially he only asked the club for an apology and for them to make a small donation to a children's charity.
Instead the Celtic board refused and claimed the abuse was not their responsibility and that the club was now a separate entity to the Celtic boys club. This despite the boys training in the same training ground. Wearing Celtic strips with Celtic badges. The President of the boys club was Jock Stein and the awards nights were held inside a suite at Celtic Park.
Celtic also gave a weekly report on its own club newspaper the Celtic View on the fixtures and results of the boys club.
Gordon refused to give up. He took legal action against the Celtic board and scores of other victims came forward.
Numerous coaches and scouts that were employed by Celtic were charged, found guilty and some were jailed.
Gordon finally achieved justice with a class action that was taken out against the sordid club. They could not deny their responsibilities any longer and finally agreed to settle in court.
By this time the many years of vitriolic online abuse Gordon on social media from a section of the Celtic support had already taken its toll on his health. Though he would have continued his fight against the club. He had no option but to spend the short time he had left with his kid and close family.
Gordon passed away yesterday aged 71. His family have asked that he be remembered on the 71st minute of the Rangers v St Mirren cup game this Sunday with a round of applause.
