Another project ticked off! 👏🏻

We’re continuing to invest in our facilities and make the most of the space we have available.

After recently transforming some of our larger areas to help generate additional revenue, we knew we needed to find a smart solution for alternative changing facilities for our gents and ladies.

Our old ladies’ locker room gave us the perfect opportunity. We’ve completely reworked the space to create two good-sized, modern rooms, including a brand-new entrance at the front of the building for the gents’ changing area. 🙌🏻

It’s great to see another project completed and the club continuing to evolve!

And we’re not finished yet… 👀

Next week, our main front doors are being replaced, creating a fresh, modern and much more welcoming entrance to the club.

Lots of exciting improvements happening behind the scenes just in time for our members returning for season 26/27 🚪✨👏🏻

🚨 ANOTHER BIG CLUB IMPROVEMENT TICKED OFF! ✅🔥

Back in April, our members gave us the green light at the AGM to invest in making improvements around the club — and just a few days ago, another one came off the list! 💪🏻

Our bottom green had been fighting a losing battle for some time, with historical water damage causing the surface to decline over the years.

Rather than simply accept it, we put an action plan in place with Dales to find a cost-effective solution — and the results speak for themselves! 👌🏻

🎯 A much-improved playing surface
🎯 More consistency across the green
🎯 Even more quality playing space for our members

We’ve put the surface through its paces with multiple sets of bowls and a variety of different biases, and we’re delighted with how it’s performing. We’re confident our members will immediately notice the difference! 🙌🏻

This is exactly what club investment should look like — identifying problems, finding solutions and putting money back into the facilities our members use every week. 💙

A huge thank you to Tomasz & Mick from Dales. The craftsmanship is absolutely top notch and we couldn’t be happier with the finished result. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

🏆💜 GOLD FOR ABBIE! NATIONAL CHAMPION! 💜🏆

What a way to start Medals Day at Northfield! 👏🏻🔥

Abbie Harris has been crowned National Youth Singles Champion after an absolute rollercoaster of a final! 🥇💜

Abbie found herself trailing 5–10, but showed incredible composure, sticking to her drawing game and slowly turning the match around. She fought back to lead 11–10, before once again finding herself behind at 11–14.

But Abbie wasn’t finished! 😮‍💨🔥

A double on the next two ends saw her storm back in front, and from there she kept her nerve to close out a brilliant 21–17 victory and claim NATIONAL GOLD! 🥇👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

What a performance. What a champion! 💜

And there’s even more to celebrate…

This victory secures Abbie’s place at the British Isles Championships next season — another fantastic opportunity on what is already becoming a very exciting journey! 👌🏻🇬🇧

🎯 MIXED FORTUNES IN THE U25s & SENIOR SINGLES

There was heartbreak for Ann McCormack, who narrowly lost out 19–21 to her friend and absolute legend of the game, Margaret Letham, in a battle that was every bit worthy of a final. 👏🏻

In the U25s, there were defeats for Lennon Hamilton, Laura McCabe and Sarah Campbell, but the fight continues! In the youths Jayden Chrichton & Danny Brown put in some good displays as they keep improving and I’m sure titles will come their way in time 👌👌

Tomorrow sees the start of the Scottish National Championships at Ayr Northfield.

Naturally we wish all our members well in their quest for a national title. Our youths, along with Seniors and mixed pairings go over the first weekend so best wishes to them all 😊😊😊

Lastly a huge good luck to club sponsors SK21 who continue to support our grassroots players. We are forever grateful for all you do at WoS 💙💙

It’s the last day of the games when the medals will be decided 🥇🥈🥉

It’ll be Bronze medal matches all round for our home 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 hopes Garry Brown & Stuart Sloan in Para Men’s pairs alongside their ladies Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 teammates Mary & Pauline Wilson.

Our guests over the last few months team Malaysia 🇲🇾 will also be in action as ladies singles Emma, Men’s pairs Daniel & Soufi & Ladies para Pairs Norazian Daud and Jariah Zakaria battle for bronze too 💪🏼

Game on!!!!

Scotland’s 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Mary Stevenson & Robert Barr with Directors Jim Aitken & Sarah Jane Ewing will go for gold 🥇 tomorrow morning against the auld enemy England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Our guests over the past couple of months Team Malaysia 🇲🇾 will contest both the Men’s singles Final and the Ladies Pairs final after sensational wins in their Semi Finals over Australia 🇦🇺 & Northern Ireland respectively. They’ll face English 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 opposition too after a great week so far for the team from south of the border 👏🏻👏🏻
