I received two enquires yesterday from people asking if they were "too old" for the programme. 53 and 51 respectively. This and " I'm worried I'm too unfit" are the most common worries or queries we receive. The answer is always the same..no you arent too old or too unfit.
So it was quite timely to receive this brilliant email and pictures this morning from Linda, one of our Rutherglen members who is 51 years old but literally has probably reduced her age by at least 15 years in terms of physical ability, strength, body fat levels etc ( which if you think about it- these are a few of the defining factors of "age")
Without question, Linda has been one of the standouts of the year due to her focus and willingness to take on board advice and dietary changes. In terms of performance and what she can now do- these progress pictures dont even do her justice. So much stronger, fitter, more muscle, less body fat and more importantly feeling great mentally.
SUPERB. 💪
Hi Patrick,
I didn’t imagine when I started bootcamp that I’d share these photos, but I hope it might help others who doubt what can be achieved in a relatively short period of time. Having always enjoyed exercising and keeping fit, I was in need of a new challenge when I started bootcamp last August.
Like many women (and men perhaps to a lesser extent), I’ve always been body conscious and critical of myself.
I would weigh myself almost daily and berate myself for not achieving my weight goals. This all changed when I signed up to what has been the most challenging and rewarding programme I’ve ever experienced.
What I realise now is, it doesn’t matter where you start from, there is no end point, you can keep progressing with your fitness and strengthening and that is so motivational.
It’s also changed my self image as I’m no longer so bothered about what the scales say.
I’m more interested in how my body looks and feels, rather than my weight.
As a result, the mental health benefits are every bit as great as the physical.
At 51 years of age, I can honestly say I’m in the best shape of my adult life and know that I can continue to improve.
As much as I know I’ve put in a lot of work and effort, I couldn’t have achieved that consistency without the help, enthusiasm and unstinting support of you and all the coaches.
Each and every one of you is so committed to ensuring we get the most out of each session and that has kept me coming back week after week.
So thank you and please keep doing what you do...it is life changing!
Linda
