It was a largely successful day in the Gents Bowls Scotland District Finals with 3 of our 4 finalists winning to progress to Northfield!

In the afternoon, Jim Byron won 21-17 against Condorrat in the Over 55 Singles. This evening there were wins for Ryan Devine in the Junior Singles v Banton (21-17) & in the Triples for Jim Byron, Scott Wilson & Andrew Byron v Lenzie (19-7). In the Pairs, Ross & Elliot Reid unfortuately narrowly lost out to Kirkintilloch by 1 shot.

Massive congratulations to our teams, having 3 teams qualify for Northfield is a great achievement - with a shoutout to Jim for qualifying in 2 competitions! It is the 1st time since 2014 that we have had 3 Gents teams qualify in the same season.

Congratulations to the other qualifiers from the District!

Details on dates & fixtures will follow nearer the time.

Focus turns now to our Ladies Triples on Saturday who are looking to qualify too, they are looking to be the 1st Ladies Triples qualifers since 2013 (Iris MacKinnon, Jean Watson & Margaret Burns), good luck!

One change in the K&D League with Andrew Byron coming into the home team, away team remains the same after an excellent away victory last week.

With the top 2 playing each other this week, 2 wins could see us go into the final week with something to play for at the top of the table.

*Last minute change with Andrew Byron moving to the away team replacing Jim Byron & Bob McVey in to the home tram

The Bowls Scotland knockout competitions come to a conclusion this week with the below players representing the Club in the District Finals, with a win securing their place at Northfield in the Scottish National Finals!

We are delighted to announce that member Andrew Fleming has been selected to be part of the Para Bowls Scotland squad. Andrew joined the Club this season & has gone on to show his ability when representing the Club.

Andrew is the 1st member to be selected for Scotland since 2005.

Everyone at Westermains congratulates Andrew on his selection & we look forward to seeing him represent Scotland in the near future!

In the all Westermains Senior Singles Semi-Final it was Jim Byron that won 21-11, the game was tight at 11-11 before Jim went on a run of winning several consecutive ends to make the Final next week.

This evening there were 3 wins; Ryan Devine in the Junior Singles (21-9), Ross & Elliot Reid in the Pairs (23-9) & Jim Byron, Scott Wilson & Andrew Byron in the Triples (20-2).

All teams progress to the Bowls Scotland District Finals next Thursday, 1pm/6:45pm at Kilsyth BC.

We have 2 Mixed Pairs teams playing tomorrow night at Lenzie looking to make the District Final, which we host next Friday.

2 positive results will be required as we look to make the top of the table interesting going into the final few weeks of the league.
