Another great day’s bowling to conclude this year’s finals.

In the battle of the Mums and Daughters, Fiona & Mhairi Green came out on top. Well done to them and hard lines to runners up Laura & Tayler Staward.

In the Gents Pairs an extra end was needed with Alan Kuhlwilm & Peter Barber winning by one shot over Hector Murray & Jim Burgess.

The Ladies President’s Trophy was won by Rachel Ramsay, beating Laura Staward who was playing in her second final of the day.

The Gents Championship saw Willie Gregory successfully defend his title defeating Willie McIntyre.

A great day’s bowling. Many thanks to everyone who came along, the players, the officials, the caterers, and the greenkeepers.

Today sees the last of our finals.

In the Gents Championship, Willie Gregory will be trying to defend his title against Willie McIntyre who only joined the club this year.

The Ladies President’s Trophy sees Rachel Ramsay and Laura Staward compete for the silverware.

In the Gents Pairs, Stephen (Hector) Murray and Jim Burgess take on Alan Kuhlwilm and Peter Barber.

The first final starts today at 12 o’clock. For the first time in Woodilee BC’s history and something which must be rare in other clubs, the Ladies Pairs final will be between 2 Mother and Daughter teams.
Laura and Tayler Staward will play Fiona and Mhairi Green.

What a lovely match to start the last day of our finals and it’s great to see our two youngest members competing with their Mums.

Another 3 great finals today.

Rachel Ramsay won the Ladies Handicap, well done Rachel and hard lines to runner up Anne Carr.

In the Gents Two Bowl, Willie Brown defeated Jim Burgess in a closely fought 5 setter. Well done Willie, hard lines Jim.

Finally the Ladies Championship produced some great bowls.
Hard lines to Laura Staward and many congratulations to Aileen Miller.
Aileen won the Championship for the 17th time. A fantastic achievement and on her birthday too!

A great start to our finals weekend, the weather was great and so was the bowling.
We had the Doctor Williamson congratulations to Peter Barber and commiserations to runners up Jim McDonald.

The gents also had the senior championship, congratulations to Robert Mclaughlin and commiserations to William Gregory.

The Ladies had the Margaret Townsend trophy, congratulations to Aileen Miller and commiserations to Fiona Green.

Three fantastic games well done to all competitors and a big thank you to Willie Brown for umpiring and all the markers and board markers.

Congratulations to our seniors 4s team of Willie Brown, Willie Mcintyre, Alan Kuhlwilm and Charlie Cameron who had a convincing win in the semi final of the DBA competition, against a very strong Condorrat team.

What a Wonderful Weekend at the Widley!

Saturday saw the traditional opening of the Green and President Peter Anderson’s wife Pamela did the honours.

A cold day but we got through the afternoon without rain.

A special mention for Davy Mitchell who won the prize for best novelty hat!

Sunday saw the Ladies Opening day and the celebration of 50 years of the Ladies section.

President Rita Gordon’s husband Stewart delivered the first bowl after a celebratory circuit of the Green by a Piper, Rita and all the lady members.

Due to the weather the bowls was quickly completed and a great crowd were able to move into the clubhouse and celebrate in the time honoured way.

A video of the day is currently in production but in the meantime enjoy these photos of both days.

A huge thank you to all the guests who turned up on both days and special thanks for all the wonderful gifts given to the Ladies.
