Indra Reinhold is an experienced contemporary dance practitioner and choreographer who has been working with a wide range of dancers from professionals to vocational and recreational students of different ages and abilities. Indra Reinhold has rich and distinctive choreographic language, she has created numerous contemporary ballet and dance productions for such companies as Reinhold Chamber Balle
t, Mariinsky Theatre, Yekaterinburg Dance Theatre, Ballet West Scotland and others. Indra is a creator and former artistic director of the contemporary dance company Reinhold Chamber Ballet (Latvia) for which she created contemporary dance productions Imagination Games, Swan Song (Fantasy on Chekhov’s Themes), Sister World, Songs of Paris, Light and Ash, Diaries of Clowns and others. For Ballet West Scotland Indra created an original version of The Wedding by I.Stravinsky and numerous other works. She is a Choreography Award winner of the Genée International Ballet Competition in 2019 and several other national and international dance festivals. Indra uses Cunningham and release – based techniques in her teaching approaching them creatively and blending them with her own contemporary dance language and subsequently its teaching tools. Exploration of dynamic qualities of movement - ‘playing’ with different amplitudes; applying contrasting movement qualities such as softness and fluidity, thickness, tension, resistance and sharpness; ‘playing’ with different rhythms ant speeds using suspensions and ‘catch ups’ as well as relations between balance and ‘off balance’ and different ways gravity affects our movements - is essential part of Indra's practice explored and applied both in technique classes and dance improvisation/creative movement sessions.
