Hyrox Glasgow 2026
Been sitting on this one for a while. My most eventful race yet so lots to process 🤔
Bottom line. Zero goals achieved. 🥴
First time ever no PB, 4th again so no podium and no sub 60.
However this one felt totally different. Led the race for the first three rounds having a good tussle with some fine athletes.
At this stage I started to get hammered off judges. Judging at Hyrox is obviously a bit topic and I’m all for strict movement standards. However the judging has to be communicated well. It was really unclear what the judges were ruling on and in fact the sled pull judge told me I had a 3 min penalty to which I said that’s my race over. It was only in retrospect I realised a 3 min penalty is for not pulling the sled over the line - which had at no point been mentioned. I also pointed out that he was following me up and down but no one was now watching the athlete who had taken 1st place. The combination of inconsistency between athletes racing against each other and lack of communication isn’t a great combo. The 3 min penalty never appeared on my time which to me further highlights the confusion and incompetence.
Penalty or no penalty, unfortunately the damage had already been done.
Until that point I was flying but totally under controlled, poised and ready to dig deep and go to the well. I firmly believe I was going to go on a run a much quicker time but I let the judging/penalty scenario get in my head.
Really hard to come back from and perform at the same level.
More that anything this is a lesson for me to work on.
If I’m going to be at this level, at the front of a race I need to not give judges anything to pick up on AND keep a solid mindset so I can continued to race and my absolute peak effort.
Frustrating to cross the line matter of seconds outside my PB and sub 60 knowing I had more in me had I not let my momentum and flow be distrust by uncontrollable’s.
Proud to rally and finish strong going unbrocken on wallballs again with a time that puts me a kick in the arse from top 100 all time in the world for AG. 👴🏼
