Whilst we didn’t compete as closely as we would have liked, we enjoyed another appearance at the Peirson Trophy Finals Day.

Congratulations to Kildale Cricket Club on a well ran event as usual, well done to Danby on a commanding performance throughout the day and deserved winners.

All the best to Joey Kelly on his recovery, a young redcap junior who went on to represent the Redcaps in the Beckett League and a trophy winner with us in 2021.

Peirson Trophy Finals Day

WHAT A DAY!!

Despite a frustrating rain delay during the opening fixture, patience paid off and Kildale Cricket Club’s Peirson Trophy Final’s Day was a monumental success.

SF1: East Harlsey, choosing to bat first, (possibly to allow some delayed stop outs to arrive from the night before), found themselves 35-1 after 5 overs. Then a rain delay of around 2 hours haulted proceedings. The clouds cleared as the crowds arrived and East Harlsey made 98-5 from their 15 overs. Kildale in pursuit completed the chase in the 9th over for the loss of just 2 wickets.

SF2: Glaisdale won the toss and elected to field first. Danby recovered from around 25-3, to go on and make an imposing total of 158-5. Despite early aggression from Glaisdale, a flurry of wickets put the brakes on and they fell short on 79-7.

FINAL: Kildale won the spin and chose to bat. A stop start innings, aided by some good Danby opening bowling saw Kildale all out on the last delivery for just 94. Danby in response were too strong, chasing down their target without loss inside 10 overs.

A huge thank you to everybody that supported our finals day. Whether it was through sponsorship, a donation or being part of a packed out KCG to take in the action.

Thanks also to the other 7 teams that have taken part in this year’s competition. Without competitive teams agreeing to join the tournament, we wouldn’t be able to put on the spectacle that is finals day.

Finally, congratulations to Danby Cricket Club, for once again winning the Peirson Trophy. And here’s to a swift recovery for Joey Kelly, who broke his collarbone in the second semi final, but thankfully was able to make it back in time to share a winners beer at the end of the day.

Roll on Peirson Trophy 2027 🏏🏆❤️

Mixed results for the Redcaps, but the focus has to be on young superstar Harland!

Firsts hosted Ravenscar firsts and posted a strong total, built on the foundation from skipper T. Wardell (sponsored by Beacon Farm Ice Cream ) with 54, before a fantastic middle order knock from S. Harland (SPONSOR REQUIRED) with his first ever century, well batted young man 👏🏼. The win was wrapped up thanks to A. Burtt (sponsored by Clover Hill Farm ) with 4-16 and S. Padmore (SPONSOR REQUIRED) with 3-26.

The seconds struggled with the bat falling to 71 all out, despite O. Bonnard and Gilbank (SPONSORS REQUIRED) trying to resist the rugby club attack. It clearly wasn’t easy to bat as the Redcaps took regular wickets M. Hollingworth (sponsored by S.I.Electrical Contractors(Whitby) ) with 1-9 a miserly spell. However Rugby Club got over the line for the win.

Local derby this coming weekend as Glaisdale host league leaders Grosmont.

Glaisdale V Slingsby, Fri 24th July 2026, League Round 8 of 8

Glaisdale welcomed Slingsby for the final league game of the Feversham season knowing a win would secure back-to-back league titles.

Fielding first, Glaisdale pressed hard for quick wickets. The pressure brought rewards, with key wickets in the second and third overs. Note-worthy contributions from Kyle Boushall (4 for 7 from 4) and Thomas Tindall (2 for 5 from 4) left Slingsby 71 all out.

In reply, Glaisdale openers scored freely with limited risk, reaching the target within 8 overs without loss. Charlie Parker (28 n.o.) and Tom Beeforth (41 n.o.).

A strong performance to cement Glaisdale's position at the top of the table - in what is the 100th year that the competition has run.
