We had a fantastic turnout today. 20 people in total came out for our 1st leg of our river competition. The rain kept at bay for us the most part of the day, albeit the midges were out.
There were numerous fish caught. And a couple of eels. All of which were released unharmed.
There were only four fish that qualified in their size that counted today.
All fish caught were brown trout.
So we'll done to Jay Allison then Ian Robertson and today's winner with two qualifying fish was Ewen Cameron.
Well done Ewen. 👏

The next leg will be held Saturday 4th July.

We will all meet at the hospital carpark tomorrow morning Saturday 6th of June for 8.30am to get your competition ticket and raffle tickets.
Essential items to bring.
Your membership card.
A measuring tape.
A phone for your pictures of any fish caught. (no picture no fish)
A pen.
A landing net.
Forceps or disgorger.
Obviously your rod and gear. 😂
Fish care is absolutely paramount. Once a fish is caught and unhooked place it inside your landing net to rest and recover, then get your ticket and tape prepared for your photo of your catch. Its advisable to do this as prolonged exposure for the fish whilst dealing with your phone and ticket can have consequences.
Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. If any other members and their children would like to attend tomorrow then contact Stuart.

South Ayrshire council kindly sent us some dog fouling signs to put around our waters. I have put up a few signs already and more will be going up.
I must say that there has been a huge improvement, as In I haven't came accross any mess whilst strimming recently. So a big thankyou to all the dog walkers taking notice.
I also have placed up at the reservoir some disposable gloves alongside the bags to keep everyone's hands clean when dealing with any fatalities if they come accross them.

I was down stimming club waters yesterday and came accross these wee fellows.

The most common small shoaling fish in Scottish rivers is the European Minnow (Phoxinus phoxinus). Often locally referred to as "baggies," (the baggie minnow) these tiny members of the carp family rarely exceed 10cm in length and form large, tight shoals in shallow, well-oxygenated water.
