4 Personal Training sessions and 5 class and single class passes for bootcamps up for grabs …Yes I know, who doesn’t love a freebie. We all have reasons for exercising, increasing range of movement ( if you don’t move you loose it), weight loss, aesthetics the list goes on. One large part of exercising outdoors is the improvement in our mental health. you also get to join like-minded individuals, listen to some dodgy tunes and participate in the banter which is usually aimed at myself.

The DF Fitness has years of experience within the fitness industry from commercial large gyms, smaller boutique studios and outdoor exercise. This experience has morphed into group exercise and personal training .

Bootcamp is a short way of saying outdoor exercise - more on Bootcamp to follow.

Personal Training is more tailored for the individual and their goals, lifestyle and wellbeing. - more on Personal Training to follow.

Personally : I have in the past  struggled with fitness and confidence. With the right coaching that was turned around and fitness became a huge part of my live.  I decided to completely change my career path and use that passion to help others.

One heart attack at the end of February and I am back. Yes, a real shocker! According to “Doctor Google” I had acid reflux - never had acid reflux in my life, suffered it for 4 days then dialled 999. A few days in hospital, one stent fitted and a “Big Wake Up Call”. Now on the road to recovery which is a slow and already frustrating process, but you have to listen to the professionals.

Lesson to all, when something out of the ordinary is going on with your body get it checked ASAP!

I got such a shock I have even put a photograph of myself on this “tinterinterwebthing”

First Bootcamp last night since December, it was freezing but brilliant to see everyone and be outside clearing the head.

I havent posted over the festive period because it is what it is “Festive”

ADJECTIVE [usually ADJECTIVE noun]
Something that is festive is special, colourful, or exciting, especially because of a holiday or celebration.

A time for celebration, with my family, my friends and my own downtime, not for feeling guilty because all over social media people are telling me what to eat, what not to eat, pretending they are not giving advice but still giving advice. I also don’t allow anyone to make me feel guilty because of the way I spent my hard earned Festive break, even in January there is still the “Festive Shaming” I ignore it!

Let’s get ready for 2024 New Year Resolution!

Missed 2021 and 2022 resolutions, may as well aim for 2024 cause you are not going to do anything in 2023. Is this you?

If this is you, it is time to shift, turn and move, bite the bullet, leave the sofa behind get outside and exercise.

Don’t kid yourself, you won’t do it in January, why should this year be any different!

I say this from experience, I have been there!

Stop kidding yourself!

Don’t set yourself up to fail!

Our bootcamps are for all levels and abilities:

Couch 2 Bootcamp : A 30 min slower paced class ideal for those wanting to start their exercise journey or wanting to get back into regularly exercise.
Main Bootcamp : A faster paced 45 min class.

Don’t worry you can join any bootcamp you like as you will go at your own pace with adaptations when necessary - although you will be pushed!

I can’t stress enough the need for no worry or stress when coming along for the first time, we have all been there and the “The DF Warriors”are a welcoming supportive group - they have all been the newbie at one point!

Do Diets work,Yes! But they are not sustainable.

Do diets work, the answer is yes to a certain degree. At the beginning of my journey I used weight watchers, although I knew if would have it limits for me, limitations came when I had lost weight and was dropping points, I was too hungry but by that stage the “Diet” had served its purpose.

What was its purpose?

It was about a sharp shock to the system that I had to change, it worked for me because I set a start date and no looking back.

It allowed me to re-educate myself about what I was putting into my body.
It highlighted my portions - especially amounts
It showed me the bad habit food choices that creep in over the years
It started to install some discipline and planning into my nutrition
It also made me listen to my body, what bloats me, what gives me energy and what I was lacking nutritionally

But most importantly it made me take control and ownership as like most I was in denial - Blaming everything and everyone for me putting too much in the mouth!

The couple of months was enough for me to start to once to realise the importance of good consistent nutrition and the positive effects it has on life.

It was the blueprint for me to move forward and continually educate myself.

So think of diet time as education and not “Punishment” Then it has severed a purpose to move on.

I have never see these teenagers so excited or smiling like this, the power of a freebie.

Some of our bootcamp warriors, these ladies are all on differing stages of their fitness journey, it is great to see them all flourish and their hard work and commitment paying off…. They are FIERCE!

First Ironman at 52 years of age.

“Thank you so much Douglas for creating my strength and conditioning programme over the last 18 months in my bid to become an Ironman. You have made me work hard, kept me focussed, taught me the importance of HIIT training, weight training ,stretching and nutrition.
We have laughed and sweated along the way, and on Sunday 21 Aug, we did it!”

This is remarkable, such dedication from this young lady. Imagine! Early winter mornings long cycles, long runs and open water swimming in all the elements and then spending time in the gym, all before work, breakfast, school run etc

The Ironman was completed in Copenhagen last Sunday in just over 13hours, which is a superb time!

* 3.8km swim in open water
* 180 KM Bike Ride
* 42.2 Run (Full Marathon)

I am soo proud of Ann, there were tears and snotters when she passed the finish line - They were all mine - as you can see from the video Ann looks like she has been on a quiet Sunday stroll.

What an inspiration this young lady is!

It is never too late to start your exercise journey, take the plunge and DO IT!
