NEWS: NTC Student to form part of Great Britain's Tag Team event at the Grand Prix in Manchester later this year

National Taekwondo Club student, Joshua Dancer has received a formal invitation to represent Great Britain at this year's Cadet Tag Team event at the Grand Prix, which will take place in October, just before the televised broadcasting of the semi finals of the top 32 athletes in the world.

The 14-year-old from the club's Nottingham branch will form part of the 20-strong squad, which will give them a fantastic opportunity to perform at one of the world's biggest annual Taekwondo events in front of thousands of people.

Joshua, who has trained with the club for more than two years, was delighted on discovering that he had been invited to form part of the squad.

Speaking from Israel, he said: "I'm really happy to be asked to take part in this great event.

"It's an opportunity that I'm looking forward to taking part in - and one that I will remember for a long time."

Joshua's mum, Caroline Dancer, has been an avid supporter of his Taekwondo journey since he took up the sport at a young age.

Caroline said: "I was over the moon when I received the email letting me know that Josh had been invited to take part in this event.

"It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for him and I know he will work really hard in the run-up to the big day."

The news came as some of the National Taekwondo Club's students are taking part in a joint-training programme with Israel's National Taekwondo Squad.

Learning of the news, Chief Instructor Master Mark Moores, added: "I'm very proud of Josh's achievements over the past two years and an invite to represent Great Britain at a major event such as this is testament to his success.

"I would like to congratulate Josh on this opportunity but I'd also like to thank British Taekwondo and GB Taekwondo for their ongoing work in terms of opening doors for younger Taekwondo athletes across the country."
