THE CROWN 18-22 FORESTERS ARMS 'B'

It was The Crown that took the early initiative, Neil Knights/Ian Griffith edging out Andy Pearson/Jim Haynes 5-4 in excellent game that could of gone either way.

The Crown extended their lead as Neil Faulkner/Ian Haynes also edged out Charlie Barnwell/Ian Brodie 5-4 in an equally gripping tie, leaving The Crown 2 10-8 up after 2 games.

Foresters Arms 'B' pair Nigel Stanford/Tim Harrison swung the tie back the other way with an excellent 5-1 victory against Jackie Walker/Andy Fowlkes, putting Foresters Arms 'B' 13-11, 2 legs in front.

Bob Smith/Russ Yates were able to pull the Crown back to 1 behind as they defeated Roy Osborne/Tony Hillyard 5-4 in another tie that could have gone either way.

This left the game finely poised 17-16 going in to 'the winner takes all' final game, and it was Foresters Arms 'B' pair Michael Russell/Sid Fowler who were able to hold their nerve and over come Ray Thompson/Mark Faulkner 5-2 to win the game.

Champions elect Foresters Arms 'A' signed off an excellent season with a victory, finishing the season with 23 wins and only 1 defeat.

Wins for both The Crown & Foresters Arms 'A' sees them finish in 2nd & 3rd respectively.

Towcester SSC cemented 5th with victory over 6th placed St Crispins.

Elsewhere wins for both Butchers Arms & Peggottys sees both move up one spot at the expense of Eykyn Arms 'B'.

With the title already decided and George Minards already securing the Tin Hats trophy, there was still a chance for last day drama. Having been set 7 to win the leg, Nigel Stanford (Foresters Arms 'B') picked his moment to respond with 22 and sn**ch the highest score title for himself.
....and that concluded what has been an incredible season!

Congratulations to the Foresters Arms 'A', who clinch the league title with a game to spare with 38-30 victory over George 'A'.

The Crown look set to claim second place, with a commanding 41-26 victory at home to Towcester SSC, they finish second by avoiding defeat in the last game next week.

Foresters Arms 'B' will claim at least 3rd place as they beat St Crispins away from home and Wooden Walls could only tie 31-31 with Butchers Arms.

Elsewhere a win for both Eykyn Arms 'A' sees them move up 1 place ahead of the Butchers Arms and a win for Peggottys against George 'B' sees them leapfrog their opponents heading into the last weekend.

George Minards (Foresters Arms 'A') scored his 8th tin hat of the season, guaranteed himself the top spot and the Tin Hat trophy. He is 2 ahead of second place with only one game to go.

Neil Faulkner (The Crown) scores 18 for the fifth time and was joined by George Minards (Foresters Arms 'A') to make it a 14 way tie at the top of the highest score chart. 18 has now been thrown 22 times this season, can anyone make it at least 19 next week?

Wooden Walls close the gap to Foresters Arms 'B' in 3rd place with victory away to Peggottys.

Wins for Towcester SSC, St Crispins & George 'A' see no change in the race for 5th.

Elsewhere a win for Eykyn Arms 'A' over Butchers Arms sees them jump 2 places into 10th at the expense of Peggottys & George 'B', sitting just 1 point behind the Butchers Arms in 9th.

Gerry Wilmott (St Crispins) scores his 5th tin hat of the season, moving him 2 behind leader George Minards, but with only 2 games left, it may be too late to dislodge him from the top.

Adam Booth (Peggottys) becomes the 13th player to score 18 this season. There are only 2 games left for someone to go one better claim the trophy.

CONGRATULATIONS to the Butchers Arms who become the first winners of the Presidents Shield!

GEORGE 'B' 16-19 BUTCHERS ARMS

Butchers Arms took a commanding lead with Lewis Barlett/Neil Smith and Dean Murray/Stuart Lobley winning 5-3 & 5-2 respectively.
George 'B' pair Richard March/Louise James restored order with an excellent 5-0 win to leave the scores level at 10-10 after 3 games.
Steve Pridgeon/Toby Mower restored Butchers Arms advantage with a 5-1 victory.
Needing to win 5-0 George 'B' pair Mark Burbidge/Jackie Beere raced into 3-0 lead, but some excellent throwing from Toby Mower/Lewis Bartlett bought the game back to 3-3. George 'B' eventually won the last game 5-4, with Butchers Arms winning 19-16 overall.

Foresters Arms 'A' take one step closer to the league title with an away win at Butchers Arms.

The Crown keep the gap at 2 points with victory away to Wooden Walls, which sees the Wooden Walls slip to 4 points behind the top three, with Foresters Arms 'B' winning at home to Peggottys.

Towcester SSC's win away the Eykyn Arms 'A' sees them move 3 points clear of St Crispins (bye) and George 'A' who were defeated at home by Eykyn Arms 'B'.

Elsewhere George 'B' took full advantage of defeats by Peggottys & Eykyn Arms 'A' to move up 2 places into tenth with their away victory over The Boat.

Tin Hat standings remain the same with just 3 weeks to go.

Lee Milan (Towcester SSC) becomes 12th player to score 18 this season and Sid Fowler (Foresters Arms 'B') hits his 3rd and the leagues nineteenth overall, with some only having 2 games left to go over and take the outright lead.

The Crowns victory away to The Boat reduces the gap between the top two to just 2 points, heading into the final 4 weeks.

Wins for both Foresters Arms 'A' & Wooden Walls keeps it tight up the top, with the top 4 separated by only 6 points.

Wins for both St Crispins & George 'A' means they are both only 1 point behind currently 5th placed Towcester SSC following their defeat to Wooden Walls.

Elsewhere Peggottys victory over Eykyn Arms 'A' seems them jump 2 places and leapfrog their opponents into 10th place and only 4 points behind 8th placed Eykyn Arms 'B'.

There was no change in the race for the Tin Hat trophy, with only 4 games remaining has George Minards (Foresters Arms 'A') got one hand on the prize?

The Crown keep the pressure on with victory over 3rd placed Foresters Arms 'B' and can close the gap at the top to just 2 points with victory next Thursday.

Wooden Walls stay within touching distance of the top 3 with their win over Eykyn Arms 'B'.

George 'A' move level on points with St Crispins in 6th and reduce the gap to 5th to just 3 points.

Elsewhere, George 'B' moved above Peggottys and level on points with Eykyn Arms 'A' as they end a run of 9 games without a win.

George Minards (Foresters Arms 'A') records his 7th Tin Hat of the season to take the outright lead ahead of Sid Fowler (Foresters Arms 'B') on 6.

Gerry Wilmott (St Crispins) becomes the 10th player of the season to score eighteen. Sid Fowler (Foresters Arms 'B') scores his 2nd and the leagues 16th eighteen of the season, yet still nobody has managed to take the outright lead.
