🏆 SEASON CLOSING DAY – ALLAN CARNOCHAN PAIRS TROPHY 🏆

And just like that, our 2026 bowling season has come to a close! 💚

We finished the season today with the Allan Carnochan Pairs Trophy, and thankfully the weather stayed on our side for a great final day on the green.

After a closely contested final, Mick Fairnie & Ed Snelling came out on top against Douglas McDavid & Ian Cain, with just one shot separating the pairs at the finish. Congratulations to Mick and Ed, and well played to all four finalists! 👏🏆

It was particularly special to have our Honorary Member, Evelyn Carnochan, with us to present the trophy named in memory of her husband, Alan. 💚

Club President James Cruickshanks thanked everyone who has supported Gatehouse of Fleet Bowling Club this season and, in particular, all those who have given their time, hard work and effort to help get our bowling club back where it belongs.

One of the greatest successes of this season has been the fantastic community spirit surrounding the club. From our members and volunteers to local businesses, sponsors, families, friends and people simply coming along to support us, the response has been incredible. It has shown what can be achieved when a community gets behind something and works together. 💚

We’d also like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has followed our journey online. Every like, share, comment and message of encouragement has meant a great deal. Whether you’ve been on the green, helped behind the scenes or supported us from afar, you’ve played a part in bringing Gatehouse Bowling Club back to life.

There is a huge amount to be proud of — but this is only the beginning.

The bowls may be away for the season, but the work certainly isn’t finished…

Today is thank a Greenkeeper. We have 2 volunteers who go above and beyond. The bowling club is basically their second home. If it wasn’t for Neil and Alastair (with help from Derek and John) we wouldn’t have had any bowling this year. So big thank you from us all 😁

The Wanderers visit to Gatehouse of Fleet Bowling Club!

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Gatehouse of Fleet Wanderers to our bowling green!

They had a fantastic time having a go at bowls, enjoying a wee quiz and relaxing with some tea/coffee and cake. Thank you to T***s, Douglas and Colin.

It was lovely to see them enjoying the facilities and making the most of the green. Thankfully, after all the rain we’ve had recently, the weather was kind to us today!

A huge thank you for coming along — we hope to see you all back at the bowling club again next year!

The Gatehouse of Fleet Bowling Club will close for the season on Saturday 12 September.

Due to renovations planned for the clubhouse, we are required to clear the bowls room. If you have any personal items stored in the bowls room or in the lockers, please ensure that these are removed by Sunday 13 September.

We would be grateful if everyone could check their locker and the bowls room and take home any belongings before the deadline.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us prepare the clubhouse for the upcoming renovations.

More great work carried out this morning at Gatehouse of Fleet Bowling Club!

Another job completed as we continue to improve and restore our club.

A big thank you to Kris Dickie and Neil Pickthall for their hard work cleaning up and digging out the side of the clubhouse.

It’s another area looking so much better, and every job completed brings the club one step closer to looking its best!

Excellent work, lads — thank you! 👏

What a lovely evening for Try Bowls! Starts at 6.30 tonight.

The sun is shining and the green is looking fantastic!
