Gamlingay Leisure

Gamlingay Leisure A Community Gym and MUGA for Gamlingay and surrounding area. We need a minimum of 85 members to make the gym viable.

A group of local residents have formed a charity called Gamlingay Leisure (Community Gym and MUGA) to reopen the gym in Station Road at the Gamlingay Village Primary School and resurrect this amazing facility for the people of Gamlingay and the surrounding areas after it closed in the first lockdown in 2020. Our plan is to replace some of the aging equipment, but retain the friendly and social atm

osphere that this gym has operated under for more than 25 years

It is vitally important for the success of the gym and to retain this community facility that the community support us! This is possible because, at the time of closure in March 2020, there were 108 members. Look out for flyers and up to date information in the Gazette and on Facebook. Please feel free to contact us on the email on this page to find out more.

It is with sadness that we bid farewell to Zoe, our instructor for the ladies only sessions. Zoe has been pivotal to the inauguration and success of these sessions and we will miss the enthusiasm and creativity that she brought to each session.

We are working on how to fill the void left and, until this is fully resolved, we must pause the new round of ladies only sessions, which were due to start a little later this month.

We'll keep you posted on progress and when these sessions can start again and apologise for any inconvenience that this causes

Continuing with our Meet Our Trustees series, let us introduce Sarah.

Sarah has lived in Gamlingay for 29 years, having moved here from London with her husband and three children back in 1997. She has been an active member of the village community for many years, serving on the Parish Council, including 3 years as Chair; setting up and running an after school club; founding and running the village charity Forward Gamlingay for 20 years; and being employed as Co Manager of the Eco Hub from 2017 to 2021.

She was one of the founding members of the volunteer group who stepped forward to reopen Gamlingay Gym in 2021 and has been an advisor/fund raiser to the Trustees since it opened in 2022.

Sarah works part time from home and spends her spare time walking her dog, riding her horse, visiting her grandchildren in Portugal and keeping fit with regular workouts.
