It's been a hugely fun few weeks and the stage is set for a thrilling final weekend of matches!

Storylines all over the place as four of the six finals spots are still up for grabs, with only St Boswells 1 and Melrose 3 already qualified.

In Division 1, both Earlston 1 and Innerleithen 1 need to win their matches against Innerleithen 2 and Lennel respectively. Only one point separates the two Innerleithen sides in second and fourth place so it's very tight! Calculators at the ready!

Over to Division 2 and there's also only a one point differential, this time between Innerleithen 3rds and Kelso. With both teams playing Earlston 2nds and Melrose 2nds respectively, there are so many different ways it could go depending on results!

Division 3 is slightly more straightforward - Peebles play Earlston 3rds with the winner guaranteeing a spot in the final. Peebles can also afford a draw to qualify.

Let's hope for another great weekend of weather to see out this year's junior league fixtures!

A busy and successful weekend of junior tennis rounded off in style with some terrific individual performances from Borderers at the 12U Grade 5 at Kelso!

Well done Anna Zais, Mia Laidlaw, Robyn Bremner and Lucy Thomson for representing the district and their clubs so brilliantly. All four pictured below with Izzy Pyle who travelled from Northumberland and also played a great afternoon of tennis.

Anna continued her fine form from Friday's league match to take the silverware back to Innerleithen, with her younger teammate Mia pushing her all the way in the final.

The future is certainly bright in Borders tennis!

Forget an Indian Summer, this is an Innerleithen Summer. ☀️

Optimal conditions in Victoria Park for this division 2 fixture between Innerleithen 3rds and Melrose 2nds. Both teams served up an entertaining evening of doubles, which the Melrose team credited to their pre-match routine of copious amounts of ice-cream. The coolest warm up ever seen in Borders tennis.

A tight opening round squeeked the way of the home side, giving them the momentum to get over the line 3-1 against a plucky Melrose team. Shout out to Melrose's Euan who played his first ever competitive match tonight - the first of many we hope!

We'd also like to take this opportunity to wish poor Myles well, after his partner, Angus wellied a serve into the back of his noggin. Ouch! Angus lifted his dazed partner to his feet, told him his name was Carlos Alcaraz, and to look a bit livelier around the net as it was a crucial point in the match. They make them tough in this part of the world!

Thankfully, Myles was ok, but his big brother, Fletcher played most of his match like he had a head injury, getting the score wrong a record 3,728 times, despite repeatedly insisting he was 'locked in'. Naw you weren't mate.

Highlight of the evening - all the kids swarming to the mini court afterwards and just living their best lives. Magic! What ensued was some type of rammy reminiscent of a good old town Ba game i.e. toss the ball in and see what happens. It's a Borders thing!

Junior league secretary even got himself involved but, after bottling a mid court forehand and being reprimanded by his five year old partner, has now retired from tennis with no dignity. I'll never live it down!

Always great to see our juniors competing beyond the district and challenging themselves against different opponents in new environments! Keep up the hard work Emily!

Wow, what a top night of junior league tennis!

A real thrill a minute being able to watch so many fabulous games taking place across the district.

The battle of Innerleithen more than lived up to its billing with team two pushing their teammates in team one the distance! In the end it all came down to a match tie-break to separate the sides.

A fiery, energetic and engrossing encounter on the courts suitably spilled over into good banter and camaraderie in the clubhouse too. Helped by the generous volume of great tasting signature pizzas supplied by local tennis legend and longstanding club member, Jamie Gordon. Grazie Senor!

Meanwhile, in division two the top of the table meeting between Kelso and St Boswells was equally as dramatic. In the end, it was the Boswells ladies (pictured) who maintained the unbeaten run for the villagers and in doing so they become the first team to cement their place at finals day.

Highlight of the evening - it was a joy to watch Innerleithen's Anna Zais putting on a super display of all court doubles and so she gets my vote for standout individual performance. Getting to the net, being positive, playing aggressive doubles, and having the courage to back herself in big moments. Great job Anna!

Shot of the night goes to Archie McMillan for a spectacular, instinctive behind the back volley winner that would have made Mansour Bahrami beam with pride! Boomski!

And finally....choose a bottle of Huel with your pizza and being surprised when it tastes awful, choose wearing sandals with socks when you lose your tennis trainers, choose to defy physics by breaking a string with your frame, choose forgetting how to serve then comparing yourself to Pete Sampras, choose shouting 'switch' and going the wrong way, choose leaving midway through a match to nip home for a lucozade sport, choose utterly compelling chaos, choose tennis, choose life....choose to play doubles like Andrew and Finlay Graham. But fasten yer seat belts folks, coz these two fellas never stop!

It's crunch time in the Junior Autumn Leagues! 🔥

Despite the Tour of Britain causing mayhem in yesterday's fixtures (Earlston TC have issued a statement explaining why travelling by helicopter was not a viable option for their fourth team) it was another brilliant round of matches.

As we enter the penultimate stage, all teams are still in the hunt for those two finals day spots in each division.

The young and fearless Innerleithen 2nds are the surprise package so far and will take a huge step toward qualifying for the finals if they can beat the Innerleithen 1sts on Friday night in the ultimate David v Goliath contest! What a mouth watering prospect!

Meanwhile, St Boswells and Kelso currently occupy the top two places in division two and will lock horns this weekend, making it another stand out tie to keep an eye on.

Two great junior matches took place last night - played in fantastic spirits, highly competitive and all players a real credit to their clubs. 💚

Innerleithen 2nds secured a 4-0 home win against Melrose 1sts but with four very close rubbers it really could have gone either way! It was such a late finish that the floodlights made an appearance! Meanwhile, Earlston 1sts and Innerleithen 1sts finished a 2-2 draw with nothing separating the two sides at close of play.

Highlight of the evening - watching the 'senior' players encourage and support the younger ones, whether playing with them or against them. We're fortunate to have amazing young adults in Borders Tennis who more than do their bit to help the next generation coming through.

Second highlight of the evening - young Leo and Gregor skelping forehand winners against their much older opponents and giving them a fist pump and a grin as wide as the Clyde afterwards. Pick that out fellas! 💪

Final highlight of the evening - Lewis Gaffney spills the secret to a successful junior league season....a sausage supper with a generous splash of chippy sauce from Alfonsos. The diet of champions!
