SUPER SUNDAY ☀️

Good luck to our EBA team competing in the club championship finals at Cleethorpes BC today. They take on Sleaford Town in the semi final @ 10am. The winner will play Royal Mail Cart in the final this afternoon

Good luck as well to David Ellis & James Staples who play in the Great British Bowls open pairs finals today. A competition they qualified for in the 1st weekend of the season. They will be streamed on WRONG BIAS - Bowls Podcast at approx. 11:20am

SDBL DIV 1 CHAMPIONS FOR FIFTEENTH TIME 🏆

On Friday evening, on the final day of the season, our division 1 team retained the title in dramatic style, sealing a 12-0 win.

Starting the week in 4th place, and knowing we needed 20 points to win the league, the team pulled off 2 special performances to take a maximum 24 points in their final 2 games. Following a slow start to the season in May, we have had to chase down all season the teams in front of us, and great club spirit has pulled us over the line💪🏼

Special mention to Vikings, Winterton, and especially Scunthorpe, for an outstanding title race that went all the way down to the wire, it has brilliant for the local bowls community. 👏🏻

Another special mention to all our members who have played across this season, and it could have been done without our division 4 side who has helped develop our new members and have game time to others, to help feed them into the 1st team, and all of them have helped accomplish this achievement! 👏🏻

There is no such thing as ‘1st team regulars’ or ‘2nd team regulars’ …just ONE CLUB💙💛

SHIRES ‘B’ TEAM DIVISION 4 CHAMPIONS 🏆

Well done to our newly formed ‘B’ team, who have won division 4 in there 1st season, by an impressive 25 points.

At the end of last season, as a club, we felt that after a long hiatus of having a ‘B’ team, it was time to form one again to give some members more opportunities for games, and also help develop and promote the game to new members! We are happy with how the ‘B’ team has progressed over the season, and the new faces it has attracted to our club! 😁

The team has been well supported by our division 1 players as well at times where necessary with availability. Hopefully the team can continue to grow and attract new members to our club for next season 📈

Thank you to Andy Bennett who has captained the team brilliantly throughout the season and created a great atmosphere amongst the group!

Played with a smile on their face all season! WELL DONE TEAM 💛💙

2026 ELAND TROPHY WINNERS 🏆

Last night we triumphed in the Scunthorpe & District Bowls League Eland Trophy final. After 3 years consecutive runners up, we was finally able to reclaim the trophy in a brilliant match against a very good South Ferriby Vikings team.

In a match where we had to concede 2 shots on aggregate due to the ranking system, we was able to establish a lead from the off across 3 rinks. This lasted until around the 15th end, where Vikings showed their class and resolve, fighting back to get their noses in front towards the closing stages.

A strong finish from all of the Shires rinks ensured that we was able to get back in front and stretch our lead in the last 3 ends, finally winning by 11 shots overall on the aggregate!

Well done to Vikings for getting to the final, and a brilliant match across all rinks! Always a pleasure to play against 👏🏻

2026 HOSPITAL CUP WINNER - MENS SINGLES 🏆

Congratulations to Andrew Bennett who won the men’s singles at the Scunthorpe and District finals yesterday, hosted at Crowle!

3 trophies in 1 week, as well as being the captain of the 2nd team, who clinched the Division 4 title…not a bad week 💪🏼🥇

Skegness Update 🏖️

Mixed fortunes for Jenny, Sue & Rena at the start of the national championships down in Skegness.

They started the week being crowned champions of the Donald Steward Trophy along with the rest of the Lincolnshire ladies! 🥇

They carried that forward into Monday, their 1st round of the ladies 3 bowl rinks, holding off a comeback from Notts to win 20-19. Sadly they couldn’t advance yesterday in the quarter finals as they succumb to a strong Northants team 10-16.

Well done on making it this far, you continue to make the club and county proud 💛💙

Today we turn our attention to the champion of champions where Gail Windsor kicks off her campaign! Good luck Gail 🍀
