Safety first!
Trail update
From this weekend, Poultys last blast down to Transmission will be reopened.
On a slightly grimmer note. We have had a report of an individual who has tried to clear an unofficial trail by Felling a large wind blow tree. This tree was on the forest road network, near to a residential property. This individual, who was in no way trained or qualified to deal with a complex wind blow (or wearing PPE), got both the tree and the chainsaw stuck resulting in a rather dangerous situation which very easily could have resulted in the death of the operator, the death of anyone walking under the tree or the death of the trained staff members who had to deal with the issue. This significant risk of death was in the name of reopening a bike trail.
Please, let the trained squad deal with the trees, and please be patient, we are doing our best to open up the trails but incidents like this are only slowing our progress and putting our team at risk. Please heed any closures that are on the trails and do not attempt to clear any trails yourself.
While we appreciate help from the public, the best way to help is to safely ride the open trails, report anything you think is dangerous to a member of staff and to heed any diversions or signage in the forest. Any reports or sightings of unauthorised people using chainsaws in the forest will be reported to the police.
