Dragon Amateur Radio Club Founded in the 1980's has a dedicated team of Instructors who have helped over a hundred candidates obtain passes in the Radio Amateur Examinations.

The Dragon ARC has been in existence for over 30 years and in the last few years our dedicated team of Instructors has helped over a hundred candidates obtain passes in the Novice, Intermediate and Advanced Examinations. We have a comprehensive range of equipment including transceivers, antennas and mo

bile shack. Club members regularly take part in contests and newer members are encouraged to join in and improve their operating skills. Regular morse lessons are provided by Club members to help learners master the code. On Monday 20th September 2021 we restart club meetings at a new venue, Canolfan Esceifiog, LL60 6DD, by the school in the middle of Gaerwen. It is a large hall with plenty of room, thorough ventilation and is very clean. There are separate male and female toilets, Internet and parking. Full Covid restrictions will apply and we have spare masks for those who have forgotten them as well as sanitizer gel and wipes. Biscuits, tea, coffee, sugar and milk will be available. The door fee has had to be increased to £1.50. We look forward to seeing you there….!

Following a request by the RSGB, Ofcom has indicated that stations wishing to retain their usual Regional Secondary Locator to identify their DXCC entity may use the suffix /70 to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We are proposing its use throughout June for those who would like to do so. It is also permitted to use the /70 suffix with the GQ/MQ/2Q prefix if desired. We would like to thank Ofcom for its support of the Queen’s Jubilee Celebrations.

Next Monday 18th January is a club night and once again we have a guest speaker.

Steve Shorey, G3ZPS will be giving us a talk titled '999 Emergency!!! Public Safety Communications Past and Present...

As per our usual routine, this will be a Zoom event, with the Zoom room opening at 19:00 for a natter and the formal club activity starting at 19:30.

The annual Lighthouses on the air event will take place this weekend 15/16th August at the Coastguard Station at Penmon. Starts about 8-30 9-00 and it is not a contest so that cannot be used as an excuse for staying away!! Yes N1MM will be in use and I'm sure someone can log for people who cannot!! An oppurtunity for beginners to use a 100w and a big antenna! To gain entry tell the gate keeper that you are from the Dragon Amateur Radio Club and you will get in for FREE!!
