📣 CHARITY MATCH 2nd DECEMBER 📣

Lace up your trainers and don your fake moustaches for the annual VCNC vs. VCRUFC Movember charity match!! 😎

The match will take place during training on Friday 2nd December 4-5pm.

Please bring coins to donate to the guys’ Movember fund 💵

Please arrive early (at least 10 mins prior) so we can get started with the match right away as we only have an hour slot on court!

We will also be doing secret Santa during the hour so please remember to bring your pressies if you have signed up 🥰

it’s finally time for the big CHRISTMAS SOCIAL🎄 and better yet it’s a vanbrugh women’s sport joint social so we’ll all be gathering together in true christmas spirit to celebrate 🎉 and drink🥂 together!

by popular demand PUNCH🍹is back and this week we can’t let it run out (oops)! the drinks to bring are as follows:

Marcy reports for last week sorry everything’s so late we’ve been busy xx

Match Report

The 1s had an incredibly tough last game of the term! Despite this the girls fought hard throughout all the quarters and down all thirds of the court. In true Vanbrugh style we rarely have the same consecutive team playing and this week was no exception, and having never played as a full team before they worked really hard and I’m so proud of their effort. The defence got stronger throughout the game and Lucy was unstoppable with unbelievable movement, always picking up the attacking players and snatching the rebounds. With exceptional pressure and help from Nia, Kareena and Caro to work turnovers down the court, to the attacking third, they all, in addition to Charlotte, Katy, Emily and Abi worked with determination against a strong Goodricke defence, but with a great use of spacing and movement around the D didn’t let that stop them. Kareena in particular displayed unbelievable stamina and versatility, hence receiving player of the match! For a last game I’m so happy with how far the team has come and how dynamic they are, never letting anything stop them from displaying a brilliant performance each week 💜

embarrassing or not, we all have a type and it’s time we reveal it to our fellow club mates! this week we expect to see you all dressed in your types best and gallivanting around York with us! rumour has it we’ll see a fair few of us in rugby kits or dressed to be toxic! the social is looking to start with a cheeky byob house pres before we head into town and you take on your challenges! as usual we’ll be ending at flares 😈

Matches for this week

Match report: 1s

We knew going into it that today’s game would be tight, with limited subs the girls came out in full force against Halifax right from the start, fighting for absolutely every ball and putting the opposition under immense pressure in all thirds and every quarter. The defence were relentless throughout the game, making effective use of all turnovers and knock-ons, Lucy and Kareena made beautiful interceptions, sending them straight out to the centre third. Here Kareena, Alice, Eleanor, Katy and Charlotte took their time to set the pace of the game, slowing down the play into the goal end, making use of each other’s brilliant spacing. Whilst Nolly, Eleanor and Alice delivered great drives and movement around the D, communication among the girls was impeccable, especially with a new attacking team! Despite not winning this game, the girls never gave up hope, as it was such a tight game and I couldn’t be happier with everyone’s performances this week! 💜

The 2s had an absolutely stunning match against Langwith 2s this week with a tight score throughout. Defence was on another level today with Nia consistently getting interceptions and Orla receiving countless unbelievable turnovers, making her Player of the Match! Centre court stamina was unmatched with Caro playing an amazing whole game as C, making her the captain’s player this week! Harriet provided some fantastic drives to get the ball towards the attacking end where Mica, Charlotte, and Katy fought to get into the D, with some lovely movement despite tough defensive work from the opponents. Although we didn’t quite get the win with an end score of 10-9, it was an incredible game and I’m so proud of everyone’s positivity attitude, especially when numbers are short!

Match report for week 6!

1s Report:

The girls had an unbelievable game this morning! Bright and Early the team came on to the court with a win in sight and worked tirelessly to keep up a steady goal difference. Everyone played a full game at their respective positions, with each quarter getting stronger, the girls displayed unmatched stamina and drive throughout! The defensive play was strong within each third of the court, with pivotal interceptions and knock-ons made. Having not played at GK for a while Nolly had a fantastic game, who along with Kareena kept the strong opposition out of the D, applying continuous pressure over the game. Eleanor and Alice F controlled the centre and Attacking third extremely well, carrying the ball effortlessly down the court, the girls deserved the Captains players today. Once again Liv and Abi worked beautifully together in and around the D, proving to be a nuisance for all teams we play against! This was a brilliant win for Vanbrugh and everyone played exceptionally well, a huge thank you for all your hard work 💜

2s report:

The 2s did an outstanding job in a tough game against Constantine 2s this morning! Defence from Nia and Orla was brilliant when it came to getting turnovers and keeping the shooters out of the D. Centre court kept the game controlled, with Nora as centre working so well together with Izzy and Amelia, which gave the attackers time to get into position to receive the ball. Grace was also excellent out of position this week as WA and held her ground against a tough defender. Charlotte did some excellent work as shooter and also played amazing as WA despite being out of normal position, making her Captain’s player this week! Player of the match goes to Katy for excellent driving and shooting.
