The sandbag (also sometimes called the beanbag) was another bit of Joseph Pilates genius. It seems unassuming but is a clever way to strengthen the entire upper body whilst also working in alignment. Motocross riders and mountain bikers tend to have issues with “arm pump” and it’s great for strengthening the forearms to deal with that - if you’re familiar with , he made his own out of a broomstick and a brick. It’s also brilliant for clients with wrist issues and arthritis.
