Our East Dean Ladies did themselves proud today, taking on their first team challenge at the Saffrons Club Softball Tournament.
Tournament report:
With some very professional-looking teams around us, we were understandably a little apprehensive, but we were ready for the challenge!
Our first game against Haywards Heath got off to a fantastic start, with Tess taking a wicket from the very first ball! Great fielding from Billie and some excellent batting from Lizzy and Julia kept us competitive, despite eventually losing 61–36.
Game two against St Peters of Brighton brought some great fielding moments, including an excellent stop from Jane, a brilliant dive from Poonam and a wicket from Julie. Julia, Tess and Lizzy also produced some fantastic batting, but we were defeated 106–49.
By our third and final game against Eastbourne Larkins, our confidence had noticeably grown. We worked brilliantly together in the field, defended our boundaries and really held our own. Despite losing 68–54, it was a much closer contest and a fantastic way to finish the day.
Although we lost all three games, we achieved the most boundaries in every match! For a newly established team that has only been playing together for two months, we have done our club proud.
