The GRB was a HUGE success, and as Chairman I honestly can’t stress enough how proud I am of the team for what they managed to put together! 💙
After 6 long years of the locally famous Run, Walk, Cycle event being gone from the area, we are absolutely delighted to have brought it back for a second successful year!
The event had everything we hoped for. Runners pushing the pace and smashing PBs, cyclists getting back to the Centre almost as fast as we could have driven the route, which was honestly insane by the way, with the fastest cyclist completing it in just 47 minutes! 🚴♂️ And our walkers telling us how much they enjoyed the amazing scenic views along the way, even with those challenging hills thrown in for good measure!
The day itself, and seeing the joy on everyone’s faces, made all the stress and countless hours our office team have put into making this event happen completely worth it.
From countless hours building and managing the website and payment pages, dealing with insurance, designing the best T-shirts possible for you guys, busting their guts trying to secure toilets for the start line, which was far harder than it ever should have been due to a few complications put in front of us, managing dozens of name changes and keeping everyone updated in the lead-up to the event, our office team genuinely put hundreds of hours into this between them.
But like we said, seeing you all enjoying the day made every single hour worth it. ❤️
A special thank you to Fishie Community Pub for keeping the bar going all day, allowing dozens of participants, families, marshals, organisers and supporters to stay at the marquee right through until 9pm, enjoying a b**r and taking everything in after what was a fantastic day! 🍺
A massive thank you as well to Councillor Ann Bell for her continued backing of these events. Ann even came down and helped out on the day and was fundamental in pushing to get the Bracoden toilets opened at the very last minute. A councillor who genuinely has a heart for her community!
To all of the stalls, the ice cream van and the burger vans, you all deserve a huge thank you for contributing to such a brilliant atmosphere. Everyone here at the Centre really appreciates you coming along and being part of it!
And of course, thank you to absolutely everyone who helped and volunteered either on the day or behind the scenes. From marshals, to everyone handing out and pouring water for participants, those helping get the start line organised, and Savoch Hire who supplied us with a portaloo at the start line, every single person played their part.
It really was a genuine day of community, enjoyment, achievement... and probably a few sore legs and a bit of chafing mixed in for good measure! 😂
Our team are already hard at work planning another fitness event towards the end of October, which they’re hoping to announce in the coming weeks as well as some exciting additions to our weekly schedule!
You would think a day with 600+ in attendance here at the centre would be enough for them to chill, but I cant get them to stop! 👀
Thank you again to everyone who helped make the GRB what it was. What a day. 💙
