Please share!!
Despite a well-publicised serious incident just 6 weeks ago, this was captured on our CCTV this evening: People again risking their lives, and those of others, by ignoring clear signs that swimming in our beautiful lake is not safe.
As the schools break up for summer, and the temperatures soar, it might be tempting to go for a dip... But please don't!
There's several dangers; underwater obstacles and w**d, coldwater shock, and sudden depth changes - even if you are confident you're a strong swimmer, you can quickly get into difficulty - two men in May were lucky to have their shouts for help heard by neighbours and be rescued.
Our Commodore, Julian Hardy, has asked us to share this important reminder:
“We have been fortunate to have extremely vigilant members of the Frampton on Severn community who over the Bank Holiday came to the rescue of two men who chose to swim in the lake unauthorised and got into serious difficulties. Please do not be tempted to enter the lake without permission. Thank you.”
Please help us keep our community safe by sharing this message and reminding your young people (and adults!) that the lake is not a safe place to swim.
We are proud to offer a controlled, well‑managed environment for sailing and water activities. All our coaches are RYA certified and we only ever run sessions where people may be in the water if they are monitored by experienced crews on safety boats.
Please stay safe this summer - and if you’d like to enjoy the lake properly, why not become a member and learn to sail with us instead? 😊⛵
