5 things that’ll actually help you lose weight when you’ve got zero time ⬇️
No, I’m not about to tell you to meal prep on a Sunday for four hours or wake up at 5am to hit the gym. You’re a parent. You’re already exhausted. Let’s be realistic.
Here’s what actually moves the needle when life is chaotic:
1. Prioritise protein at every meal 🥩
It keeps you full, it preserves your muscle, and it stops you raiding the kids snack cupboard at 9pm. Aim to build every meal around a protein source first, then fill the rest in around it.
2. Walk more than you think you need to 🚶
You don’t need a gym session to burn calories. The school run, the dog walk, parking further away it all adds up. 8,000–10,000 steps a day will do more for you than one panicked gym visit per week.
3. Stop skipping meals to “save calories” 🚫
It backfires every time. You end up starving by 3pm and grabbing whatever’s easiest, and eating twice as much as you would have. Eat regularly. Keep it simple. Stay in control.
4. Sleep like it’s your job 😴
I know. Easier said than done. But poor sleep wrecks your hunger hormones you’ll crave more, eat more, and have less willpower to make good choices. Even an extra 30–45 minutes matters. Protect your sleep where you can.
5. Get some accountability 📲
Willpower alone doesn’t work long-term especially when you’re tired, stressed, and someone’s just spilled juice on the carpet. Having a plan, a coach, or even just a check in keeps you consistent when motivation disappears.
You don’t need more time. You need a smarter approach
