Scottish Ice Rinks Association Working to promote ice sports in Scotland. The Executive Committee elects a Chair from SIRA Members every 2 years.

The general purpose of SIRA is to promote “All things on ICE” in Scotland and look after the interests of all affiliated Ice Rinks and support and work with other bodies connected to our sport. Our aim is to develop and encourage participation by people of all ages into ice sports, both for general recreation and competition. An elected Executive Committee manages the functions of SIRA comprising

of three from each stakeholder group of Ice Rink Owners/Directors/Managers and Employees. SIRA acts as a lobbying agent for ice sports with the Scottish Government, Sportsscotland and the Governing Bodies of Ice Sports including; Royal Caledonian Curling Club (RCCC), National Ice Skating Association (SK8scotland), Scottish Ice Hockey Association. SIRA works to promote specific initiatives to assist individual Ice Rinks eg: provide Health & Safety guidelines and information on energy efficiency.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or an enthusiastic newcomer, this is your chance to shine on the ice and take home the glory (and the cash!). Gather your team and start practicing those shots – the competition is fierce, and the prize is yours for the taking!

Forfar Indoor Sports will also be hosting an evening dinner during the competition for all curlers to enjoy and participate in. This cost is included in the team entry fee.

SIRA held its Annual General Meeting today at Forfar with a very healthy turnout from ice rinks around Scotland. A very positive meeting with loads of open, interesting and helpful discussions. Thanks to Vincent Bryson & Charlene Graham from and David Thomson from for attending and presenting updates from their respective organisations. SIRA Chairman for the past 12 years Mike Ferguson (Forfar) stepped down, with Richard Harding (Greenacres) stepping up to Chairman and Gail Munro (Stranraer) moving up to Vice-Chairperson. With new faces also voted onto the Executive committee the association is in a good place with loads to be getting on with. A full AGM report will be available for members to view on the SIRA website shortly.

As we build towards the end of another busy winter season it is appropriate we take time to thank your dedicated ice techs around the country who have been living and breathing ice to keep us all enjoying our ice sports. A full rink of curlers of all generations from primary and secondary school kids to octogenarians, all levels of ability from this year’s new beginners to Olympians competed last night in the Perthshire Trophy.

Curling at Dewars is not only busier this season than last, it’s an essential part of Perth’s culture and heritage. Curling needs to be part of Perth’s future too, providing positive health and wellbeing outcomes for Perthshire residents of all ages and grassroots curling opportunities for future sporting success at the one Olympic Sport Scotland excels at.
