Folkestone Rowing Club

Folkestone Rowing Club Established in 1852 the Folkestone Rowing Club welcomes new members to train as Oarsmen, Oarswomen and Coxswains, as well as purely social members.

The Folkestone Rowing Club is always looking for new members; whether you are an experienced rower, just starting out or just like to find a new place to socialise. Rowing is a great way to keep in shape and even relax. It is worth a visit to the club to meet the people and have a look at the facilities. The best times are on a Sunday at 10:00 or Wednesday at 18:00. Should you be available any oth

er time, one of our members should be more than happy to show you around. If you would like to have a go, bring items of clothing and footwear that you don't mind getting wet with you! There's absolutely no cost to visit the club or try rowing. The club competes in the Coast Amateur Rowing association league which takes place mainly across Kent and Sussex. However there is absolutely no pressure for any members to compete. The club also host a wide variety of social events. Sandgate Parish Council is applying for the beach at Granville Parade in Sandgate to be formally designated as a bathing beach - if this is successful, the hope is that the Environment Agency will do water quality testing at this location.

For the application, we need to do a count of bathers in the sea. We need to have at least 100 bathers a day, this is where we need your help, please.

If you are planning on doing a sea dip / swim on either Friday 22nd or Saturday 23rd August please could you do so in front of the Rowing Club / The Boat House between 7-9am or 12-2pm, as these are the 2 days we plan to capture as many people as we can. Thank you.

Regrettably, due to the arrival of a weather system from the Atlantic 🌊, we have made the decision to postpone the regatta on Sunday to a future date (tbc). Wishing everyone a lovely bank holiday weekend, watch this space for a new date! 💛

ADOPT A RACE AT FOLKESTONE REGATTA

Folkestone regatta will be held this year at the club on 25th May, starting at 10.00am. As ever, the support of our sponsors helps us hold the best regatta on the south coast so why not adopt a race? Suitable for businesses, individuals or family groups, race adoption starts at only £30 for a sculls race, £60 for a pair or double and £120 for a fours race.
