Fochabers is a small village in the North East of Scotland which plays cricket in the NOSCA League. New members always welcome.

It currently has a senior team and encourages youth development.

What an absolute cracker of a Sunday afternoon at Castle Park! Fochabers and Huntly Cricket Club served up a classic nail biter that went right down to the wire, with Huntly sneaking home by 6 wickets with just five balls to spare.

Taking first strike, Fochabers posted a total of 225 for 4 from their allotted 40 overs. The innings was built on the back of two marvelous half-centuries from Matt and Alan with Tris Fahey adding the usual fireworks with a lively 37 (leaving a broken window and a distraught dog in the process!) 🫣

Chasing a target of 226, Huntly timed their reply to perfection. Despite the best efforts of the Fochabers bowlers led by Alan Sherman, claiming 2 wickets and Andy Kerr bagging 1, the visitors kept their cool. A sharp catch by Matt Saunders and a swift run out executed between Callum Wilson and WK Tris briefly threatened to tip the balance, but Huntly stayed firm.

With captain Brent Johnson bowling into the final over, Huntly managed to cross the finish line at 229 for 4 after 39.1 overs. Not only a brilliant chase but a fantastic advertisement for local cricket.

We welcome Huntly Cricket Club for our penultimate league game of the season.
Following our own success in the Development Cup, Huntly arrive on the back of securing their league title in NESC Grade 2. Please feel free to come down, take a seat on our picnic benches and support the teams.

A huge thank you and well done to every single player who has contributed to our Development Cup campaign. We couldn’t be prouder of the whole squad and the way everyone performed when it mattered most.

From the first ball to lifting that trophy, the teamwork, effort, attitude and belief were outstanding. Everyone played their part and it was a brilliant all round team performance.

A special moment seeing Fochabers captain Brent Johnson collect the Development Cup winners trophy from Adam Gallop, Vice President of NOSCA. 🏆👏

And a massive congratulations to Matt Saunders, who was deservedly named Player of the Match by the officials, collecting his trophy from Adam 👏🏏

A huge thank you to Adam and Ronnie for umpiring, Mike and Sid for scoring and to Elgin Cricket Club for hosting the final.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who has represented Fochabers throughout this campaign. This trophy is a reward for the whole squad and everyone who has contributed along the way.

When you wish Tuesday's were Sundays… but it’s still only Tuesday! 😩🏏

There’s just something about a cricket ground on a beautiful day that makes you wish you could forget about work, ignore the to-do list and spend the afternoon out in the middle. 🌞
The grass is looking perfect, the sky is blue, the pavilion is waiting and the pitch is calling… but sadly, it’s still only Tuesday! 😐

Match result from 16th August, league game away to Elgin.

🎯 Alan Sherman – 3-26 off 7

Fochabers lost the toss and were put into bat. Elgin's opening bowlers held Fochabers to just 40 runs off the first 10 overs. But a partnership of 93 between Andy Kerr and Brent Johnson pushed the scoreboard on, helping to offer Elgin 224 runs for a victory.

Similar to Elgin, Fochabers opening bowlers held Elgin to just 41 off the first 10 overs.

The standout performance with the ball came from Martin Pearson, who produced a superb spell of 8 overs, 15 runs and 6 wickets. His figures were backed up by Alan Sherman, who claimed his 3 wickets for just 26 runs, while Andy Kerr took the remaining wicket.

Fochabers kept the pressure on throughout, restricting Elgin's scoring and taking wickets regularly. Despite useful contributions from Conor Macabhuinn 58 and Joel Vale 23, they were unable to match Fochabers' total and were eventually bowled out for 159.

A huge thank you to Elgin Cricket Club 1853 for their hospitality (the cake was to die for) and for the tremendous effort and spirit of the young Elgin team players who did themselves proud 👏

🏏Fochabers Captain player of the match, goes to Martin Pearson for his excellent spell with the ball, a quick knock of 11 and some fine fielding including a catch.

This Sunday 30th August, we head back to Elgin to face Highland Cricket Club in the Development Cup Final starting at mid day.

We are incredibly proud of the whole team after a fantastic all round display with bat, ball and in the field — including five astonishing catches! 🙌 1 each from Alan Sherman, Andy Kerr, Sam Hahn WK, Dylan and a rousing backward somersault with 3½ twists from Daz.

In reply, Ross County were bowled out for 106.

Great spells from everyone culminating with Brent's first and final 4 ball over taking his 2 wickets before finishing things off with a run-out!

A brilliant team performance from start to finish. Everyone played their part and the result was thoroughly deserved.
