On Saturday, 18th July, TASK founder and association head for the past 43 years, Hanshi John van Weenen MBE, OMT, aged 84, peacefully passed away at Northampton General Hospital after bravely battling cancer.

Hanshi’s passing is a profound loss to TASK, to all his students; past and present, and to the wider Karate community. His dedication, leadership and unwavering commitment to the art of Karate have shaped generations of practitioners and left an enduring legacy.

We extend our deepest sympathy to Hanshi’s sons, Haydn and Mansel, and to his grandchildren, as they mourn the loss of their father and grandfather at this very sad time.

Did you know our karate classes run throughout the school holidays?

If you or your child is looking for something to do over the summer and are interested in learning a new skill, why not come and join Flitwick Shotokan Karate Club.

Your first taster session is FREE, and if you enjoy it and want to learn more you can sign up for our Beginners Course which includes another FREE lesson!;

5 classes for £20 (juniors 6-13yrs) or £26 (seniors 14yrs+)

Well done to everyone who braved the heat and graded at Flitwick on Sunday. So lovely to see our students progress on their karate journey.

A big congratulations to Dominic who was awarded the trophy for his commitment and effort to karate and to Mr Peat and Mr Webb for receiving their Dan grading certificates. And a huge well done to Molly and Ashleigh who have been training with Flitwick TASK Karate Club since they were both young (8 & 6 years old) and have earned their 1st Kyu belts.
