The Jaguars took part in the Thornton FC Summer tournament today off the back of their Highbury Cup win last week.

The Jaguars were on fire 🔥 and were dominant in their first group phase, winning 5 games from 5 matches only conceding one goal in the process.

That saw them put into the ‘Champions League’ stage for the next round. The lads continued with their excellent performances, finishing 3rd in the group, only conceding 2 goals and losing 1 game, to the eventual tournament winners, in the second league stage.

Onto the semi finals and the Jags took the lead with a fantastic team goal which Dan described as ‘liquid football’, however it was just a step too far as the boys eventually ran out of steam and ended up on the wrong side of a 4-1 scoreline.

There were some tears of sadness and frustration at the end, however, the lads should be proud of themselves competing with some teams from higher league, winning 7, drawing 2 and only losing 1 of the 10 group games, finishing 3rd overall out of 18 teams in the league standings.

Well done, we are proud of you all today.

This morning the Jaguars took part in a tournament at Highbury Stadium.

It was a great experience for the boys with them playing on the pitch and getting their names called out as they entered the pitch!

The boys gave a great account of themselves, after a bit of a slow start against some very good opposition, the Jaguars grew in confidence and were drawn into the ECL Cup for the knockout stages.

The Jaguars beat Hesketh Bank Ambers 5-0 in the semi finals to put them into the final against Hough End Griffins.

The Jaguars stepped it up again in the final and won 4-0, cue the celebrations! 🏆

Well done Jags, a great team effort on a great occasion! 🐆🟠⚫️

The Jaguars took on the Clifton Wasps at Stanley Park this morning in a well contested game.

The Jaguars started slowly but grew into the half as the game went on, with a particular highlight being Ethan, the Goalkeeper, scoring from his own area!

The Jaguars moved the ball round far better in the second half with some fantastic flowing football and creating a number of great chances.

Man of the Match was Freddie for his hard work, good passing and partly due to his ‘glitzy’ hairstyle!

The Under 7 Jaguars league game was called off so a friendly against Kirkham Juniors Yellows was arranged at the Civic Centre.

The game was played in great spirit and was a fun game to watch with plenty of attacking football on display, with everyone of the Jaguars outfield players getting on the scoresheet, Ethan, the goalkeeper, almost got himself in on the act after a last minute mazy run was ended by a last ditch tackle in the opponents box!

Playing back on grass meant it took a short while for the Jaguars to get used to the pitch and implement their passing game. Sebby was awarded Player of the Match for not just his Hat Trick of goals, but also for his passing and in particular a great square ball for an assist!

The Under 7 Jaguars took on Clifton Rangers Wasps on a breezy morning at Stanley Park.

The Jaguars started off on the front foot, playing the ball around nicely and showing off a great range of passing.

The Jaguars worked hard throughout the match, particularly in the second half when they were playing into a challenging wind.

With nothing to choose between them, the Jaguars had 3 players of the match;
- Arlo for a great goal, assist and persistent hard work
- George for a disciplined performance in defence and showcasing his excellent passing and being rewarded with a deserved goal
- ⁠Fin for his battling efforts all match, ending with a couple of goals, with his second being a fantastic run and great strike to match

The Under 7 Jaguars returned to league action today against BJFF Spartans after their Cup exit last weekend.

It was a very competitive game on a lovely sunny morning at Bispham College. The Jaguars worked and battled hard throughout and passed the ball with purpose.

Man of the Match was George who scored two great long range strikes.

Hogan Cup Under 7s Quarter Final

Poulton Town Jaguars 2-2 St Anne’s Magpies
(Penalties; Jaguars 3-4 Magpies)

Heartbreak for the Jaguars this morning as they were knocked out of the Hogan Cup on Penalties.

The Jaguars came flying out of the blocks taking the lead after 1 minute. The first half was quite a scrappy affair with neither side managing to take control of the game and St Anne’s came back into it as the half went on and went in leading at the break.

The Jaguars, who weren’t at their fluent best today, kept battling and got a deserved equaliser mid way through the second half to make it 2-2, which was the end to the goal scoring as neither team could get a winner in normal time.

This meant the match would be decided by a penalty shootout, the cruelest way to end a competitive game between two well matched sides, and after 7 successful penalties between both teams, it was the Jaguars who unfortunately missed first and exited the cup.
