The Open Day is back on. I'm in the Tower until 2.00pm if you fancy coming to see what we do in the Leaning Tower of Fleetwood

Well we've some good news if you're out and about today...
We've been told that it is now safe to welcome visitors to the Observation Tower at (following storm damage to the building) so can offer visits to NCI Fleetwood Operations Room until approx 4pm.
😀 We have a selection of cakes and drinks too
🥮 🍥 🥞 so we'd love to see you!

Unfortunately the Open Day has had to be cancelled tomorrow, as Storm Dave has caused damage to the rear of the tower making it a Health and Safety Risk.

There will be another opportunity to visit the Tower on our next Open Day in May.

I know it's now nearly 12 months since I was your Captain and NCI Fleetwood at Rossall Tower was my chosen charity, but I thought you would be interested to see this.

All of our Watchkeepers are volunteers who give up their time to help ensure that visitors to our stretch of coastline stay safe whether they are on the beach or on the sea.

Your fantastic contributions have helped to ensure that the Watchkeepers who man the station 365 days a year between 10.00 and 16.00 (Winter) and 10.00 to 18.00 (Summer) have had all the necessary equipment to carry out our duties.

If any of you want to have a closer look at what we do and visit the Tower, we have our Open Day on the 6th April from 10.00. You are all welcome to come along and bring members of your family too.

We're so grateful to each and every one who supports NCI Fleetwood QAVS in helping maintain our service keeping here at .

If any of our members are interested in joining NCI Fleetwood as a volunteer watchkeeper, just let me know via the comments section. Othr than good eyesight, you just need to be able to spare the time to be on watch (3 hours in Winter, 4 hours in Summer) at least twice a month.

What’s your 2026 resolution?
If you’d like it to be a lifesaving one, volunteering with us could help you do exactly that.

Volunteers (2,800 of them) at our charity’s 61 stations along the coasts of England and Wales are part of the maritime search and rescue community. Our highly trained watchkeepers keep a daily watch for anyone in danger and report any incidents to our HM Coastguard colleagues so help can be sent.

You don’t need any qualifications or maritime experience to join us as full training is provided.

You’ll learn watchkeeping skills, accurate logbook maintenance, incident response, tides, weather, VHF radio skills with specific emphasis on distress calls, chart and map work, as well as familiarisation with the local sea and coastline and any hazards.

We’re always looking for more people to support us and their communities in many different ways. Sharing this post is an easy way to show your support!
