After a difficult week previous exiting one cup in the quarter finals to the probably winners.

We had arguably our biggest game of the season against AFC Broadwaters at Unity in the Semi-Finals of the cup.

Injuries and Mother's Day provided a couple of early barriers prior to kick off with about 5 players ruled out and others facing a last minute fitness test we knew we had to be prepared.

The first 20 minutes were cagey as both teams concentrated on not making mistakes rather than opening the scoring. We controlled possession and could've been 2 or 3 up but we weren't at our clinical best just yet.

A solid opportunity for Broadwater springboarded us into life and not two minutes after Broadwater rattled the post from distance we went ahead. Magee sliding through Tommy who finished 1-0.

As we approached halftime. Defensive stalwart Lucas prevented a dangerous attack before sliding a pinpoint ball through to Koz who put his earlier misses behind him as he slotted home. 2-0

HT 2-0

We flew out the box and with a helping hand from Broadwaters keeper, a wayward pass out was intercepted by Tommy and Ste rocketed it home. 3-0

The captain stepped up next, to intercept a shocker from the keeper again, winning the ball back high, laying off to Magee who set Tommy up for his second. 4-0

Broadwater got one back from Billy Dolan with an absolute worldy, has to be to beat Myles these days. 4-1

The gaffa introduced himself to get some more minutes in the tank, make sure we were solid once more and solidify his opportunity to play in the final and what an appearance. Soon after coming on, curling a delicious ball into the box straight onto Tommy's head. 5-1

Not soon after and the gaffa was away again, may have been lacking in match sharpness but not football IQ. Assessing the pitch quickly after making a darting run to be through on goal. He squared to Magee who's shot was saved and the on rushing Daryl the Barrel bulldozed his way to slow away the rebound. 6-1

Never to be left out, and a main reason why we had so much possession, after making a mockery of the opposition for most of the game, with at least 17 hot dogs. Jak was assisted by Ste to solidify a dominant performance. 7-1

What a game from the boys who were near enough faultless all game and we're into the final. After a difficult and inconsistent start to the season, we're on for the double and looking to finishl the season unbeaten.

Final details to follow. Please make sure you tell your friends and family to come down and support.

After last week's 4-1 victory against TM Sport. Other results provided us with the opportunity to seal the league this week against Cleverleys.

Last few weeks we've been dragged into poor games by opposition tactics and discussion were brief this morning, keep it on the floor, play the way we can and the league is ours.

We started the game brightly and created chance after chance in the first 10 before being given a penalty, keeper brought our striker down when through on goal.

1-0 Tommy H

Not two minutes later and it was 2-0. Kick and chase dealt with easily by the defence and we split them open. Tommy through on goal to slot past the keeper

Wrapping up the first half and most likely the game, Jak made it 3-0 and we were cruising.

Half time we asked for more of the same and despite a scrappy first 5 minutes we took over once again.

Poor challenge in the box on Koz and Tommy was gifted a chance to wrap his hat trick up which he did. Firing in the same corner.

4-0.

A sending off for Cleverleys more or less finished the game off it it wasn't over already and Magee added to his tally for the season making it 5-0.

The best goal of the game came at the very end. Poor defensively clearance fell to the edge of the area, Buchy, with a first time finish, rattled the ball into the back of the net on he volley via 3 deflections.

Game over. Full Time Score 6-0 and we're champions again. Onto next week with a tough semi-final against Highfield FC.

Is the treble still on?

It's been a while since our last post (shocking really) especially given the run we've been on!

Since the turn of the year we've eventually started putting games to bed and getting the results our performances and football merit.

Undefeated so far this year.

Started off with a walloping off AFC Cleverly (0-5)

Followed up smashing Marton Athletic (6-0)

Next up was a huge game against Saddle in the cup to book our place in the semi's. Monumental effort from everyone on the pitch especially Myles in goal.
Somehow they only had 1 man sent off and for whatever reason we had one sent off too, good strong challenge very harshly punished followed by a ridiculous melee. Despite conceding a 98th min equaliser. Our performance resulted in a win on penalties thanks to two big saves from Myles. Semis here we come.

Local Rivalry game against Clifton, dispatched with ease. 7-2 and we scored 8!

Next up TM Sport. The football we played was outstanding. Couldn't get near us most of the time 9-2 and we were cruising and it kept that form going into a huge clash next up

Massive game at the top of the table followed against Broadwater in their back garden. Game didn't start off well as we played against the gale force winds and driving rain and were 2-0 down after 10 mins. We started to compose ourselves and do what we do best. Getting the ball on the floor and play to our strengths despite the swamp of a pitch. 2-2 at HT. Battling both the opposition on every front and disgusting weather, we ran out 6-2 winners and in the end, it probably should've been 10. Comfortably.

Back on home turf in what feels like forever at the weekend as our Local Rivalry continues at the edge. Clifton.

They came with a game plan and that game plan was to kick, aggravate and muddy the game up where possible.

Chance after chance went begging throughout the first half before we eventually made it 1-0. Myles jumped into the game at times with two crucial saves out of nowhere when needed and we should've been out of sight long before our second went in but we had to settle for a 2-0 win in the end. The result is the most important thing in the end.

WWWWWWW so far this season and long may it continue. Clear at the top. Two Semi finals on the horizon. Is the treble on? We'll see...

A special mention to an exceptional gaffa, tirelessly working long hours for the club behind the scenes, a lot of blood, sweat and tears driving the lads forward and with results this year matching the efforts put in he's eventually been recognised for everything that he does for us with a Manager of the Month Award. Hats off and long may it continue 💙

Match Report Clifton 2 - 4 AFC Dunes

Goals - Jake M X2, Jak, Frankie ( Assists Kozza X2, Frankie)
MotM - Dec

Change of location for this game as well returned to Stanley Park for the first time in a fair while. Not a pitch that were overly familiar with but the way we play football, it should suit us down to the ground.

Kick Off

Despite holding much of the ball and dictating from the off we were struggling to create an significant chances and in all honesty, the better chances probably fell to the opposition, a couple of efforts from 20 / 25 yards kept Myles on his toes but nothing that was entirely troubling.

Continuing to apply more pressure on the wings was really starting to pay dividends, and a couple of crosses looked as if they were going to be dangerous but amounted to nothing.

As always against Clifton, the game is marked by being clinical and taking ownership off the ball in he middle and after a corner from Clifton was cleared our first bg chances came. A cleared corner fell to one of there 3 remaining defenders who tried to drive forward. Jak, tracking back, stole the ball turned and flew back the other way with 3 men in support. Unfortunately, Jak's vision of a 35 yard screamer was blocked by a defender and they managed to get men back.

This seemed to spur us on and our we were attacking in waves, a few chances later and we eventually took one. Playing out from the back, Clifton's pass from defence into midfielder was cut out. A few first time passes left Jake M through on goal and he slotted it under the keeper. 0-1

Our attacks were relentless as the half was drawing to an end but we needed another to really settle the nerves and get our just rewards. Some brilliant wing play from Kozza gave him the chances to whip across to the back post where Frankie was on hand to volley past (over) the keeper. 0-2 and a deserved goal from Frankie who had been really testing their back line all half

Half Time

More of the same to be honest, attack after attack, get really couldn't cope with our width and ability to cut through their midfield. A short forcing the keeper to make a great save left us with a corner. Short corner taken in to Buchy who whipped a flat cross into the on rushing Jak who shot straight at the keeper he couldn't hold it and Jak was already on-hand to finish off. 0-3

More good link up play shortly followed with Frankie breaking away on the left. Scooping it into the box two of our boys were on rushing it was just going to be who go there first. Daryl seemed prime for a second goal in as many games but Jake M got their first slotting home. 0-4

It was game over and the opportunity for some lads to both get some much needed rest and valuable minutes in the bank too.

A poor back pass left Clifton through and despite 3-4 one on ones already saved. Myles couldn't quite keeper this one out 1-4

Clifton corner, effort saved by Myles, follow up effort off the line by Josh Peat, final effort cleared off the line once again by Peat (or so he said) referee decided otherwise and added another Clifton goal to the scoresheet. Frustrating given our dominance but Clifton should have put a least 1 or 2 away earlier in the half .

Full-Time : Clifton 2-4 AFC Dunes

In a game that always promises to be a tight affair given the on-going rivalry, we ran out deserved winners and added another 3 points to the bag.

Huge game and a big test incoming which is likely to decide whether we make it back into the top 4 before the league splits. Somewhere we really should've been already...

AFC Broadwater 3 - 4 AFC Dunes
Goals - Daryl, Koz X2, Jake M
MotM - Daryl

Full report, started off slow on a broad water pitch as always with grass to our knees.

Goal Broadwater 1-0 after the right wing back bamboozled himself and Nobby with some skill before Nobby chopped him down for a pen that was buried.

Goal Broadwater 2-0, long ball that resulted in hesitation from both centre Half's with neither clearing which they then scored from.

Goal Dunes 2-1, neat play down the right with Lucas playing a strong pass into the on rushing daz who's first touch was Messi esque to take him past the defender and slotted left footed past their keeper.

Goal Dunes 2-2 lovely through ball from Buchey through to koz who slid a finish by their keeper

2nd half

Goal Broadwater 3-2 after lovely defensive tracking from koz winning the ball back, he then played a lovely through ball to their striker who smashed past Myles.

Goal Dunes 3-3 ball straight through to koz who outpaces their defence and slotted home with screams from offside from the home team despite him running past 2 men

Goal Dunes 3-4

With 4 mins to go, corner on the right whipped in by Jake M (after his first being way too long and second being too short he got it spot on), looped through the keepers hands into the far corner.

Onto tomorrow with a big game against relative rivals Clifton Rangers.

AFC Lytham 4 - 4 AFC Dunes

Goals (Jak, Jake A, Calvin, Jake M)
MotM - Jak

Following on from our positive week previous, we really wanted to ensure we took something from the game and started to build up some decent form.

Driving rain and 40mph winds didn't help us in the first 20/30 minutes. Playing against the wind and struggling both keep the ball and clear out lines left us 3-0 down and struggling despite probably being the more threatening team.

The weather died down as the half drew to a close and allowed us to get our feet back on the ball and play some better football.

A couple of bouncing balls lead to a Jak going through on goal. Weaving around on his way, Jak slotted past the keeper to bring us back into the game (3-1)

Half-time.

We started the second half really brightly and put the opposition on the back foot straight away. A lack of a driving wind nullified the long ball bombardment and they really struggled to cope until a breakaway lead to a blocked cross in the box. Ref deemed handball despite numerous rejected appeals from us in the first half. Myles got his fingertips to it, very unlucky but goal is was. 4-1

Despite the poor decision we got back onto the front foot and started to create chance after chance. We knew we just need to take on and they would start to crumble.

Ball were flying into their box and it took our CB to latch onto a loose ball in the box to slot home. 4-2

More chance came and went but our football seemed to keep getting better. Throwing more men forward we could feel it was coming but it just couldn't take our chances and the time wasting started to really eat into our time.

We received a free kick about 25 yards out, substitute Calvin took ownership pushing away others and even now, at the time of writing this, I still wanted the ball pumped into the box.

Calvin took 2 steps, a rocketed a shot straight into the top corner. An unbelievable strike (with video evidence). 4-3

More and more pressure applied. The opposition wilting, it was just a case of whether there was going to be enough time left. More shots on goal were being parried just out of reach or tipped around the post until Jake M stepped up.

Amongst a fog of disgusting abuse from delinquent in the opposition support / bench. A parried shot found it's way into Jake M's path and he completed the comeback. 4-4

We should've won, we should've won comfortably but time ran out and we couldn't find the winner in the end.

Some outstanding displays, particularly in the 2nd half but our MotM was Jak, a force both defensively and offensively and a constant thorn in the oppositions side.

Full-Time - 4-4

AFC Dunes 3 - 1 JDN
Goals - Jake M, Kozza, Magee
MotM - Kozza

After last week's disappointing result, we knew we needed a result today against a team in and around us.

The return of players missing was more than welcome especially with injuries hitting us hard last week throughout the game.

A change of formation this week to try something new and despite some early positional confusion we were able to put plenty of pressure on their backline and continued to try and find the final ball.

An extremely ropey offside decision went against us, after some brilliant work on the left hand side followed by Magee getting to the ball before the diving keeper, Jak rose at the back post to a flat cross into the back off the net. Some how, our oppositions lino (wearing sunglasses on a gloomy day) decided despite running past two defenders to beat the keeper to the loose ball, Magee was offside. 0-0

The final ball just wouldn't come for us, either rolling out of play or too close to the keeper. Starting to rush our play forwards kept handing the ball to their backline and keeper for the old long ball specialty. Corners came and went for the opposition until a corner from our right hand side was inefficiently headed away, airborne for what felt like half an hour and the oppositions CB has planted a Zidane like Volley into the top corner. What is with everyone scoring worldy's against us so far this season? 0-1

We upped our anti and continued to push. Turn the game into a bit of an end to end. Continued our push to goal after some fantastic recovery work from Dec and Koz. The ball found it's way to Jak who bundled his way towards the box. An ill timed challenge from the defender gave the decision to make and we were awarded a penalty just before the break. Up stepped Jake M to slot the ball down to the keepers left. 1-1.

Half Time

We spoke really briefly at half time to add more width to our play. Get the ball down, don't rush and spread it wide.

5 minutes into the second half and after a small battle for possession in left midfield, Koz nipped in to collect the ball riding 3 challenges before bolting a strike down to the keepers left from around 25 yards. What a strike and for once it's us who have come from behind to lead! 2-1

We dominated possession thereafter. Much calmer in our play and continued to put pressure onto their backline. Chance after chance came and went until and brilliant bit of play on the left once again found a shot not held by the keeper and Magee was on-hand to tap home. 3-1

We had further chances and really should've made the scoreline reflect how comfortable we were in the second half but unfortunately we just couldn't find the 4th.

A good 3 points in the bag and we march forwards to next week, hopefully this will be the kickstart to our season and we'll get back amongst the top 4 where we really should be.

As always thank you to our sponsors
