SUMMER SOCIAL 2026: CLUES AND BOOZE ๐ŸชŽ๐Ÿป

โš ๏ธ PSA: RUN+ONE would like to apologise for any chaos caused on Friday, itโ€™s just the best running community in Fleet having a good time! ๐Ÿคช

39 crazy cats took part in a treasure hunt around the Heath, finding clues and completing tasks to find the treasure!! ๐ŸชŽ

From getting table for 33 people at De Havilland Arms, Elvetham Heath to get the code word โ€œMANGOโ€, to taking the funniest team selfie outside Morrisons! Drawing skills may need working on, but the teamwork to build a tent in the nature reserve the fastest was inspiring! โ›บ๏ธ

Not just at socials, but every week everyone brings relentless energy and enthusiasm and it honestly makes the day much brighter for everyone!

Running in hot temperatures is no joke, but you donโ€™t have to trade your miles for the sofa if you play it smart. ๐Ÿค

Hereโ€™s your quick checklist to stay safe:

๐๐ž๐š๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐œ๐ฅ๐จ๐œ๐ค: Track your miles during the coolest parts of the dayโ€”either early morning or late evening. Avoid the 10 AM to 4 PM sun trap!

๐‡๐ฒ๐๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐š๐ก๐ž๐š๐: Don't wait until you're thirsty. Sip water throughout the day, and for runs longer than 45 minutes, bring along some electrolytes to replace what you sweat out.

๐ƒ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ก๐ž๐š๐ญ: Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and moisture-wicking fabrics. Dark cotton is your enemy here. Don't forget a hat and sunglasses!

Hitting 100 is madness!

I want to thank every single one of you who makes RUN+ONE what it is. Week in, week out - a sea of smiles, laughter and positive energy! ๐Ÿงก

Something we really shouldnโ€™t take for granted, and hold onto!

As we run SESSION #100 this evening, I've asked the community to think back to the first time they joined. How did they feel? Did they nearly not come along? And how about life, family and friends?

As we grow RUN+ONE, we want everyone who joins to feel the excitement and energy we all get every week!

Itโ€™s crazy how fast time goes by, that first session, 14 bright faces attended, both eager and nervous at the same time! Now 100 sessions in, getting between 30 and 40 people is just madness!!!

Thank you, everyone - you all make RUN+ONE the positive moment in peopleโ€™s weeks! ๐Ÿงก

One of our runners was followed by two men the other evening on a main road in Ash Vale, they ran either side of her making remarks, when she slowed down, they slowed down, she tried to cross the road, they crossed the road, there were commuters around.
Sadly this is not the first time our runners and many other clubs runners have faced this appalling behavior, 68% of women experience harassment while running, with 91% of these incidents being verbal abuse. Common issues include catcalling, wolf-whistling, sexual comments, being followed, or having items thrown at them, leading many to avoid running alone.
Surrey Police are taking action, with a new "JOGON" campaign and Blackwater Valley Runners will support this campaign, this includes plain clothes police running in jogging kit, to stop this harassment.
Runners please join a club, don't run alone don't run the same route repeatedly, most important make sure every incident is reported !
We should all be allowed to run without harassment !!!
