Starting on 16th May, you can get 7 days of FREE sessions, both live and on demand. The sessions will all be around 15 minutes, aimed at all abilities and no kit required. You can either join live via Zoom or do the sessions later on demand.⁠

It was gone 9pm by the time I got to my stretching this week, but I did it! And I do feel better for it too πŸ‘Œ

My Sunday stretching is always a bit random as it's never planned, I just move through stretches depending on how my body is feeling that week. So I hope you enjoy these too, and feel better afterwards πŸ™ŒπŸ‘

I'm back home to my studio and it's my hips which are calling to me today. So here's my Sunday stretchingπŸ‘

I ran through this 3 times, the last time I held a few of the stretches that I find more uncomfortable a bit longer (1-2 minutes) to help improve the mobility in those areasπŸ‘Œ

🌟Essential Hip Stretches🌟

Tight hips can create havoc in the body. Common issues such as lower back pain and sciatica can originate in the hips πŸ˜• particularly if you're quite sedentary and doing desk work or driving a lot. As a runner it is even more common to get tight hips!

These are my suggestions for regular hip stretches to introduce into your routine. You don't need to do them all at once. You can do 3 one day, 2 the next. Try to hold them for 1-2 minutes each each if you can do multiple sets of them πŸ‘

Think of your flexibility sessions like personal hygiene. One shower is is going to last you all week, let alone a month πŸ˜·πŸ˜†

1. HIP FLEXORS
βœ… tuck your tailbone under as shown, and keep hip bones facing forward
βœ… keep tailbone tucked as you move through the arm positions

2. QUADS
βœ… tuck your tailbone under as shown, and keep hip bones facing forward
βœ… if you can't reach around to graba the back foot then rest it on the sofa or a stool/chair behind you

3. HAMSTRINGS
βœ… LIFT your tailbone up as shown, and keep hip bones facing forward
βœ… the front leg doesn't need to be straight as I've shown, you can have a small bend in it if hamstrings are very tight πŸ‘

4. ADDUCTORS/INNER THIGHS
βœ… lift your tailbone up as shown
βœ… keep tailbone up as you lower to heels

5. GLUTES AND PIRIFORMIS
βœ… keep your body facing down the mat
βœ… keep hip bones level

If you're feeling like you need more just run through the stretches multiple times, or hold the particular stretches you need for longer (1-2 minutes πŸ‘Œ)
