A nice set up for our Menopause fitness class at Fladbury today. This week incorporated a focus on biceps - important for lifting, holding and carrying. One of our number is in training for looking after her 15 month old granddaughter over half -term, another calls is her ‘wine drinking muscle’! 🤣💪🏼🍷

A sunny workout today where we worked:
Legs = step ups & squat+ press
Shoulders = delt raises, lateral raises, shoulder press
Chest = chest fly (with a sneaky hip raise to bring in core and glutes)
Core = toe taps, single leg hip raise

All with a good helping of vitamin D. ☀️

Great to have growing numbers in our menopause fitness class. One of the exercises I’ve included for this class is the farmers walk with 10kg dumbbells in each hand. This helps to improve grip strength which is really important - it’s linked to better cognitive function as we age, reduced cardiovascular events and helps us open our strawberry jam 🍓

Thank you to all those who expressed an interest in an evening menopause class. I’m excited to announce a new class starting on Tuesdays evenings from 9 April. The class will be at Drakes Broughton village Hall from 5:45-6:30pm. Suitable for peri to post menopause.

Some sun to accompany our session this morning, (unlike the soundtrack of dripping water outside the barn last night). Sometimes I think I should move the classes to an indoor venue but everyone who comes to the Tuesday night and Wednesday morning sessions genuinely likes being outside and it’s one of the things that attracts them to the class. Exercise outdoors definitely provides some additional gains. It boosts metabolism and immunity, improves sleep and mood, provides exposure to vitamin D ☀️(between March and October), and there’s some evidence to suggest that cooler temperatures help the brain function better, which is excellent news for those with ‘baby brain!’
Drop me message if you fancy joining us. Classes are still on during half-term.
