💥Cartridge reminder!!!
As you maybe aware, a lead ban is coming into effect in 2029. We do understand that people maybe buying and wanting to try out alternative cartridges before this ban comes into play. We have found an abundance of steel cartridges around the ground. As a ground we still only allow lead cartridges until we make a few changes to the ground for safety reasons. If you need lead cartridges, please see the office.

In addition to steel cartridges we have had a rise in the amount of game cartridges getting used. Maximum load allowed is 28g 6’s.

Congratulations to 3 of our regular DTL shooters, Stephen Petch, Mark Stamper and Cory Doble have gained a place on the DTL England team for the 2026 Home International and British Open.
They will be competing in Wales, Fauxdegla Shooting ground next month. Good luck 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

With regard to a recent announcement of the passing of Joey Jones, a life time international competitive trap shooter and member of Spennymoor CPC.
The funeral will take place on Wednesday 10th June 1pm at: St James Church, Thorpe Thewles , Stockton on Tees. Followed by the wake at Hamilton Russell Arms, Thorpe Thewles

Tonight we have found well over 150 Gamebore clear pigeon 32g 6s scattered around our sporting stands. Remember our ground rules state that it is prohibited to use cartridges over 28g 6s. We do have 20g and 12g cartridges for sale if anyone requires any. Please remember to place all empty cartridges in the bins provided.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joey Jones.

Joey was a well-known and respected local shooter who proudly represented both England and Great Britain on many occasions over the years, particularly in UTR. He was a familiar face at our ABT registered shoots and, in more recent years, a regular spectator at Wednesday night practice, where he was always willing to offer help and support to shooters across the trap disciplines.

Joey will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

Following the planned phase-out of lead shot by 1 April 2029, Spennymoor will for the time being, remain a lead-only ground. We will make any required adjustments ahead of the transition and will notify in advance when non-lead shot is permitted at Spennymoor.

The largest load we currently allow is 28g size 6 shot LEAD

The Government has now confirmed when new restrictions on the sale and use of lead ammunition will come into force...

As 2025 comes to an end I would like to thank everyone who has supported the club throughout the year. It’s been another successful year seeing so many new members, new licences holders and people looking to start off. I would also like to thank all the committee members and volunteers who fill & set targets, trap & ground repairs and everyone else who keeps the ground running. Finally I would like to thank our trappers and refs for their work during the year.
We look forward to welcoming you back on the 4th of Jan with the first registered shoots being 50 ABT and 50 S***t along with practice DTL and sporting.
